So you only need to break your rack to get to them?
Or land sideways on something sticky-outy.

Yep, that was me and Mountie, we enjoyed that day ,pissing down from Wanaka to Reefton and I actually felt sorry for all those poor buggers we overtook stuck inside their cars and campers.
Just got home about 8 last night after a great 3500 km spin around the south.
Doing a bit of R+M getting ready to take on the Norf island on sunday

just a lazy wee diddly bop around the island then...
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

We were in the white van flashing it's lights at you

We can reach over the back and brew a fresh coffee and have a cookietime (visited the factory ).

Would have rather been on a bike though.

Anyone up for an overnighter camping at the Anatori river? Just checked the tides for anzac weekendhttp://www.metservice.co.nz/public/m...es-nelson.html, looks like low tide in the saturday is at 3.35pm which would mean there would be time to loop through the goldfields on the way out then head down to big river for a look before returning to Anatori for the night

Not too sure about the route out of the bay, but Parapara lookout, birds clearing, east takaka rd would use up sunday morning to be home at a reasonable hour in the avo.

Any takers? open to other sugestions also.

No drownings required, just take big river as we see it on the day.

No No No, they won't break.

Going to napier at 5 tomorrow morning, will go via akataroas? and then turn off the pahiatua track and have a look at those windmill things. The track up there looks quite good .
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Would love to but am already committed to a family camping trip closer to home.

Ummm... watch your tides. Westport gives a closer reading, would have to dig up my DOC info but I think there's 30mins difference vs 90(?) to Nelson. Anyhoo, the Westport chart says the low is at 4:49pm. At least it is a king tide with a 0.3m low at ANZAC w/e. This w/e is 1.1m, that 80cm makes a difference to the rideability of Big River for a Kahurangi Lighthouse trip.

From memory, the Anatori and Turimawiwi were forded at mid-tide (we walked from the Turimawiwi to Big River for low tide), they were pretty low then, so you have a pretty wide time window if you aren't fording Big River.
    Cheers,
    Colin
