Engrish? nah im not chinese. Look dude im not here to argue k? just try to get along.
I have tryed both as well, didn't really notice any dif, but I was told that the firestorm was better suited for the 180 and by putting the 190 on I was over tyring the rear, and could run into trouble with the front tyre losing grip, but then if thats the case would a softer compound front tyre balance that out.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

My 'Bus Loves my new 190's over my 180's that came with it.
My chicken strips are much wider at this stage (largely because of poor weather x worse health) because the bike has only seen commuting action since purchasing new tyres 250km ago.
At present my strips look hideous to me but then they are barely run in.
On the old 180 they used to impress many much more agressive bikers on much more nimble bikes.
I think I will get them back to about an inch, inch and a half before I am pushing my limits.
Either way not going to happen before I get a chance to hit some twistys.
as to 180 or 190 I find it rolls in much sweeter on the 190, 180 was probably faster (not so you would notice) but lacks the finesse.
Going the 190 was based on the recommendation of the bike shop.
Noticable differences:
More grip on a lean.
No matter how far you think you are tipped in there is more to go.
It turns faster off less lean.
More stable when applying the turps.
Everything else I would need a dyno and datalogger to determine any difference at legal speeds.
There's one basic rule of thumb, if you have chicken strips, bleating about side grip is a tad naff.
Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.
I was convinced to put 180s on the 999 and did, I regret it now, I dont think it made any difference and I think it probably handled worse as a consequence.
In future for me if the manuafactuer says 190 its 190, thats it
Ive run out of fucks to give
Sugilite hit the nail on the head, the 190 is the way to go and is more stable, coming from being slightly slower to turn in (slightly)(most can't even notice the differnce!) and besides you can make a bike turn in fast with a 190 by simply dropping the forks through slightly or riasing rear ride height slightly.
In saying this i know quite a few Aussie supersport guys have been running 190's on 5.5 inch rims, with mixed reports, some swear by it, some hate it!
I run 190/55 atm, have tried 190/60's and 195/70's all good, all with different chararctistics (mainly down to tyre brand) may even be going back to a 190/50 for Nationals!
I wouldn't bother with a 180 on a 6 inch rim, i use a 180 wet but have a 5.5 rim to run it on, modified to fit in the back of the 1000.
And hardley any tyre is ture to the width measurement, tyres off the top of my head, bridgie 014 190 was just over 180mm, dunlop 195 was like 191mm, michelin pilot sport/power were the widest i've measursed up 194mm or something like that and both are good tyres at that.
GSXR wiping the shit that is that Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki off the road since '85'

Oops.... Checked my facts. It seems I need to spend less time with uncle Kracker and more time with aunty Benedryl......
I changed from 190's to 200 / 50 ZR17 Sportmax Dunlop 208's (as reviewed at http://www.insidebikes.com/bikebuys/...asp?offset=10).
and I meant 1250kms.![]()
Sorry if this mislead anyone.
I've stuck to the manufacturers recommendations on my two 1400's and have never had a problem. Turn in is just great, handling sweet and side grip is very good running the 190/50
Once scrubbed in (50-75 k's) I have always run every brand I've tried, right to the edge.
On the new 14, the BT020's have been the first front tyre I have run to the edge on the front. Every other brand on my traded in 14 always left 2-4 mm of chicken strip on the front tyre, primarily because at this point, solid bits were touching down hard.
I'll stick to the 190's.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.
