No. In fact its often faster to shift after the maximum power point. It depends on the gearing and the engine. It's all about torque at the wheels.

That's what I thought. The optimum shift point would depend on the engine and transmission.

I'm just used to riding touring bikes (which accelerate fastest when you short-shift - since the peak power & torque occurs well before the red-line).

One of the other vids by those dudes on YouTube had a 250 doing 0-100 with an 80kg rider and again with a 50kg rider.

50kg: 8 secs
80kg: 9.6 secs

Take from that what you will.

That would be why my RG is so much slower than the CBR. I've gained a fair bit of weight (all from muscle...) since I had the CBR. I remember in streetstock the RGs would be quicker off the line, although I'd catch up pretty quick

hey dude, from riding lukes bikes cbr rr, to mine there definatly very different bikes to ride!! 2 strokes never like low down sht laging the engine up

althought i did get a loan bike when the shop tuned up my bike a Suzuki Bandit... well where do i start... i just wont no disrespect to bandit riders though there a fairly nice bike

Love my NSR to bits though! she tuned up are fires liks a farken chicken on speed

the gixer is meant to be around 3.3secs. Anymore and ya get to be ridden instead, and as far as i had seen the 1000s were the same time due to not being able to do any better without the bike flipping
