Because it's the Waibloodytangi Tribunal, which is an entity set up to give mowri whatever they ask for...

The sad thing is those that let this sort of bullshit go through the relavent channels etc, are making alot of money out of it. Those fuckwits need a kick in the head just as bad as the idiots that thought up this claim in the first place.

You can all joke about it now, and i agree claiming the kumara seems pretty ridiculous - but before you know it they'll be claiming other ridiculous things such as foreshores, seabeds and radiowaves..

heres my rant I just sent to tvnz Closeup.......and its just my opinion people...so be kind to me.......

Thankyou for the opportunity to speak my mind on this issue.
I remember the phrase "Bridging The Gaps" that the government initiated some years ago.All it seems to have done is widened the gaps between maori and non-maori.The government has encouraged the use of the word Pakeha which has no clear definition(white skinned pig or foreiner from far away land)There is little mention of the maori word (tanuwhenua????)which is defined as Pre Maori!!!!!So if the maori have a word for a race of people which where here before the named mori ori then why are we even having this debate??Maybe if the maori gave the nordic head back..(related to Sofia of Norway..as confirmed to me by a maori elder)then maybe we as a New Zealand country may not be so divided but see the real common denominator. We all have the right to the same health, education, laws and so on so why does one particular section of the community want to segregate themselves????
The maori who want to bring about soverienty are only seeking to segregate themselves but use english (crown)laws to do it with no regard to any other culture such as hindu, celt, muslim etc. As we are a member of the United Nations it seems abhorent that the" bridging the gaps theory" is used as a means to isolate other groups of the country!!
I firmly beleive New Zealand is heading to a state of appeirteit by way of a certain part of our country using the Treaty Of Waitangi to dispose of the rights any one else whos non-maori .
The flag should signify all New Zealand ..not just one part who wish to demand, abuse and chastise the rest of the country.

As I understand it, claims such as this all come down to the incompetence and short sightedness of our highly paid politicians. Something to do with an Act of parliment being passed with the wording "in the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi" With one stupid blunder, the floodgates were opened for all of the claims that piss people off- like radio and TV waves etc etc.

If you look into the history of it though, and get past the sensasionalist devisive crap that our media focus on, Maori do have some genuine greivences. It's a shame that it all has to get tainted by the ridiculous claims that our "Right Honourable" politicians unwittingly allowed to happen.

Sadly our country seems to be run be a bunch of self serving egotistical morons. We really shouldn't complain when they're behaving like children in parliment, at least when they are calling eachother names, having a good laugh, giving the finger etc it keeps them distracted and stops them from making more moronic blunders.
