    Use your proper name dude.
    > Sponsors throw money at you not primarily so you can race but so their product can be associated with you in a positive manner. If you are being sponsored by MTV then 'White Trash' might just suit them down to the ground but if you're being sponsored by an organisation that depends on the public's positive perception of the professionalism of the people who represent them (including you) then you're going to have to go with something that won't have a negative connotation for some people.
    > Sport psychology would go against it too. Other racers aren't going to be too concerned about racing against a guy whose name is synonymous (sp) with 'rubbish'. 'White Trash' could work OK if you're a professional wrestler though.
Hmmm. An afterthought ... (Jimmy 'The Garbage Disposer' Mair could work though when you get famous)

Besides, your proper name flows nicely off the tongue and if you hold onto that last syllable and increase the volume as you say it it almost sounds like a bike accelerating away from a corner. (yeah I know that sounds gay but...)

Enough shit from me on this subject. You could always discuss it with your sponsors.

Good luck with the racing though whatever you call yourself. Hope to see you at Ruapuna some day.

    Thanks for the input people.

I sort of was thinking of the name on the leathers and bike as I'll allways enter races as J Mair.

    What about James "Trashy" Mair?

Who needs serious, I mean, look at Dani Pedrosa. That's a girls name.

    Smile

Hmmmmm the many faces of this young fella

Jimmy Mair - professional name (work related)

JAMES (when RR is telling you off in her gruff voice)

    White Trash....... a loveable rogue....

As others have said....... whats in a name....... you answer to them all.

Chat to your sponsers, after all they are the ones footing the bill.
But then you too must be comfortable with what is written on your bike and leathers.

Most do know you as white trash here in NZ..... so I could see it written like:
    J (White Trash) Mair
    J (WTrash) Mair
    J (WT) Mair

The WTrash or White Trash or WT is written in white lettering.
The rest written in black or what ever other colour you are having.

BTW all the best in your racing career

Use WT and don't tell people what it stands for. Make it a little bit of a mystery. If people want to find out what it stands for then they have to go looking. Basically, it's a carrot for a donkey.
    James "WT" Mair
    Looks good to me.
Oakie makes a couple of good points too. WT doesn't have the connotations that "Trash" does.

Maybe it isn't, but I bet it would become a damn sight more recognizable and stick in peoples minds better and it brings a bit more individuality to the scene

Whitetrash on the leathers gets my vote

    The Trashman... Thrashin' it!
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

I would just go James Mair...
You were James Mair long before you were White Trash, and you will still be him long after you are no longer White TRash.

But hey, Im traditional... and am a big fan of family names and the pride attached to them.

    Just my opinion.
    Pfft, what do I know.

Rossi had (had) Viva La Figa on his leathers "long live the pussy" it was then cut back to VLF and now is WLF... im sure if you had W.T on your leathers, then its a fan club thing, no one else needs to know.

As for KB, i was thinking this exact same thing last night watching motoGP. If you were at that level, would you still contribute? I was thinking in terms of race reports etc.

If it was to become a problem, then maybe change it to WT... it's your persona, and to some extent, i dont think a haircut, shave and a nice suit is going to take the WT out of ya!

Me personally? I'd do my damndest to contribute regular contributions to KB. If it weren't for this site I'd still be atemptingto race a 96 750 rather than an up to date race bike.

Hmmm, slight play on words here....

Top Gear presenter James May is known as Captain Slow.

Could James Mair be Captain Fast......?

    Nah, as you were....
