Anyhoo I'm just about to become the excited owner of a 2001, GS500. I can't ride the bike until I have my full - which I can sit end of July.

But! I'm very excited about getting something a bit bigger!!
Holy moley, that's my old bike! It looks like it's been looked after pretty well. I hope you'll enjoy the Hagon rear shock, as it certainly helps the handling.

    Enjoy!!

Well done Cathy! A very sensible choice.

Nice choice, it was a toss up between the GS and the V-Strom for me.

Nice bike Cathy! I'm over in Hong Kong now - and looking at one of these! same color too!

it's dodgy trying to buy here 2nd hand - no test rides!!

and they all shined up to within an inch of their lives! I went to a few shops and all these old bikes had been painted or sprayed! No dirt anywhere!

How can you tell it's OK?

That's tricky really - I had a friend of a friend who is a motorbike mechanic give it the once over for me. Have any motorbike mates over there?

    Have decided on a name!

    Bob.

Explanation: 'bob' is an acronym (that some of the gals may be more familiar with) for 'battery operated boyfriend' that gives lots of pleasure.

I'm pretty confident that my new bike is gonna give me lots of pleasure too. Hence - 'Bob'.

My first bike was a GS500E - fantastic bike. Never failed me. Easy to ride and great learning bike. I never had to ride a 250 as I got my licence years ago, and it wasn't a requirement.

I did lots of travelling around on it and it was great - so I am sure you will love it too. From here I stepped up to a SV650s a couple of years later

So, did you get your licence and are now enjoying your new ride? Great little bikes and should do anything you want!
