here's my 640E last weekend doing a quick loop of central otago (4days/2200km), new screen worked at treat, complete with DB1K route sheet loaded for the new year unfortunatly managed to open up my thumb at work yesterday which required stiches to put it back together so looks unlikely that i'll make the 1k

So thats where you got to then, sneakin off round the countryside.

Gutted to hear about the thumb, still theres 3 and a bit weeks to go, anything could happen

And it's a KTM so there's no vibration through the bars to make it worse

2007 Honda Transalp. Hepco & Becker crash bars, Givi touring screen, Givi V46 top box & E41 keyless & E21 panniers, TKC 80s, Pro-Oiler electronic oiler.

2008 Honda CRF230 lowered with a Kouba link for my vertically challenged better half, now back to normal height and my commuter bike.

2006 Suzuki TU250 Grass Tracker. The Hobbit's current ride. Zeta trailbike type bars fitted, modified ventura rack, front guard raised, dual purpose trail wing tyres. Still to come - a screen of some kind and engine guard.

Here she is, my mods are all centred around survivability...

big f*ck off bash plate hides the engine from boulders, case savers on the sides too (Thumper Talk).

12v always-on accessory circuit to the dash, fused at 5A for running my bar mounted compressor (will do tyres to road pressure piece of cake - might put a heat sink on there though). Will also set up a GPS mount for my Garmin MAP76. Also considering a dual driving light set up below the main light. Nordie how's yours work out? Worthwhile?

Oh, and custom header pipe to help breathe.

Hey Sam, the can is just man-bling on the standard shock reservior - picked that idea up off Thumper Talk. Sadly, its void of the amber stuff...

The case savers have probably saved a few walks home by now - more so on the gear lever side which is notorious with its sharp-edged stock shift lever.

The bash plate was from a dude in Chch who made them himself and sold em on TMe. Haven't seen them for about a year though... only downside is noise - tends to bounce the engine sounds back up at you. Have had some mean rocks fly out from under it though!!! To get around the noise issue I put a yosh pipe on. Now I can't hear anything else and will be deaf by the time I'm 40. Roaring up a firebreak recently my ears were literally ringing at the top due to the trees either side of me. Needless to say, I have few riding buddies .

Pic of my bike with my better half just climbing on. Mods I've made are basically Renthal bars and moose hand guards, heated grips (still not wired up ), folding tip on gear shift, wilbers shock and fork springs and probably other things but cant think at the moment. Bit rough to look at but works OK.

My DR650.... the tweaks and pics.
It came with that Bashplate already on it but I'd prefer the BnB one like we used on my partners DR.
It's got the IMS tank (I went for the natural semi transparent one) with a short one way valve attached to its fuel cap instead of the usual breather hose.
I stuck Pro Contour Taper bars on.
Bark Buster brand hand guards (long leaver model)
Hot grips are there,
RAM mount and GPS,
Home made windscreen, it's not perfect but does ok.
Headlight has one of those high output bulbs and for protection I put the thick stick on film on it.
Honda mirrors, one with the Transalp rubber bushed mount.
Fork Brace, Neoprene gators and DRZ400 front mudguard chopped up and fender braced to get it all working with the limited clearance you get when you put on the fork brace. Not sure I'd go there again.
Braided front brake line,
Extra Engine cover RTVed on left side of engine.
Cut small hole in CS cover so I can keep an eye on the sprocket condition,
Scott oiler with dual nozzle and lube tube.
Lube tube which feeds the scotty with extra capacity is in the toolkit holder.
Tank panniers are Wolfman, the place I got them online no longer exists. They do get in the way of my knees occasionally.
Rear rack is a Suzuki original and replaces the stock grab handles.
Givi E370 box is mounted on the rack.
Alloy bar is added to the side of the exhaust and keeps right side plastic off the pipe when panniers are in use back there.
Previous owner added a stone guard to the back of the oil cooler.
I've gone for 15 tooth front and 43 tooth rear sprockets.
Oh yes, almost forgot, the seat has had a bit of padding added. Once again not brilliant, but still seems a bit better than original.

I think that's all the tweaks, tuning is stock and it's slowly getting covered in Dusty Butt 1000 stickers.
