I can't figure out how to register either, perhaps we can have a lesson on driving the website too!
For the record I will be bringing one other with me (if he can get his battery issues sorted in time)

Pillioning would be something good to look at as well, both pillioner and being a pillionee. Its very scary riding a bike with a new pillion on the back, perhaps more so if they mostly ride up front. Their perception of the bikes position and speed can be quite different.
I had a serious crash quite a few years back, caused by my pillion deciding we were turning too hard for the corner, and leaning out to correct it! Needless to say we didn't get round the corner, and destroyed a little old ladies prize roses.
Broke the bike, broke my foot, just about got killed by said little old lady.
Turns out John had never ever been on the back of a bike. He didn't say, and I didn't ask. I assumed that because he had been riding for a couple of years, he would be fine.
    Lesson learnt the hard way.

    See you all later tonight.

A good turnout tonight, with a new venue on trial. As per, Dan got lost on the way, even driving a cage with a huge map on a white board. Who were you following again??
Thanks very much to CaN for leading a very informative discussion tonight.
We covered a lot of ground tonight, so don't be afraid to ask if didn't fully understand something we talked about.
Remember, there are no stupid questions! We are here to help, so just ask.
If you want some one on one coaching, or just someone to go riding with, throw one of the Mentors a PM or start a new thread in the events section.

    See you out there.

    Cool

Disco_Dan arrives at the tavern and tells us that he was following this rider there......
Um hello Dan you were the LEADER and supposed to be leading us all there. As you knew the way and wouldnt get LOST.

Poor Disco_Dan managed to loose everyone as well... as he took a very sudden change of direction at the very last minute almost running over a island.

Oh well the rest of us, all had fun riding our own ride...........

Oh for those wondering what was going on with me on Triangle Rd...... and why I was slowing down.......
All of a sudden I had no power...... I was changing gears and all sorts to try and sort it out..... even threw my hands up in the air "WTF".
Figured it out thou...... somehow my kill switch had gotten turned off......
once I turned it back on, I zoomed off again.....
I was a tad worried thou..... as I had just put in new fuel...
That had never happened to me before..... so no idea how it did that.

yeah yeah.... I know.... ....I got confused - got the roads mixed up and panicked... map was upside down and then Noel(?) turned left and I just went with him! Still managed to pull out in front of Crashe and the others in time to show you all where the pub was!

Great turnout folks! I am very pleased with how tonight went! Big thanks to Noel and everyone else for the words of wisdom and giving us all the benifit of your experiences!

I wont speak for Frosty, but when he's back from racing his "pink bits" around the track I will be asking him very nicely if he could show us all a few 'mechanical' tips - to keep our rides in top notch shape!

Will keep shaking this up, trying to keep it fresh and new while still being of benefit to 'real fresh virgin' newbs!

Deathstar, you too chicken too 9 1/2 today?

Was informative indeed. Alot to think about and practice.

I liked your idea of the 'workshop' and mechanical side of the bike albeit even if it is a basic one. Just enough to maybe pick up problems early like worn brake discs or just adjusting the bikes hand lever settings for an easier ride....yeah, that basic.

    Little steps....

Noel was leading you along Royal Rd and down that side road onto Triangle Rd
so it was Noel leading US all to the pub, NOT you.

Actually the rest of all knew where the pub was...... and how to get there, without a map.........
