My recommendations is get it well done - from recall that shock is not a standard item - never did find out what it is from, along with the swingarm.
But yeh sounds like either a) they are so awesome that they are flooded with work or b) your not a high priority.

If your bike is older than 5 years or you did not buy it off them then option B. Option A just doesn't sound viable.

Go pick it up and talk it elsewhere. There is a guy in Malden Street who does them. Cant remember the name of the shop but it is an engineerign firm just down from the old allflex building. I have heard good things about him.

yep they were, said thats y they couldn't get it done last friday. but to move it to next friday and add "if your lucky" irritates me

I have dealt with Brendan on a number of occasions and my experiences have ALL been good.
That's just my 10 cents worth - as you can't have 1, 2 or 5 now.

Anybody know of a good shop to get a shock rebuilt in Auckland?

I had a shock for an early GSXR rebuilt at Colemans Suzuki (after having been told by another shop that they were impossible to rebuild, but he could sell me a new one...). Colemans did a top job, and from memory only cost about the same as having new seals and oil in the forks. Following the thread - if I get mucked around by a bike (or other) shop, I become the 'squeaky wheel' guy. Keep on their case, talk to the boss, remind them of exactly what promises / commitments they have made, generally make it more of a hassle for them to keep fobbing you off than to just do the job! I used to supply parts to the motor trade, so I know that shit happens and sometimes jobs get held up, but without being unreasonable about it I think if more people did complain about shitty service the culprits might be less inclined to over-promise and under-deliver.

Without knowing anything about anything I bet your bike is either less than 5 years old or you brought it off them.

In any case, It is the old addage. First impressions count. My first, and last dealings with Brendon was when I called in and watched a 20-something finish working on my bike. The 20-something gave me a run down on the work HE had been doing on my bike all day. It all turned to custard and then in a meeting with Mr PR God he tells me that a mechanic of 20 years experience that they poached from turnballs worked on my bike. Smiling all the way while he filled the air with bullshit. I don't take getting lied too very well at all. I don't confront people. I just move on to someone else who will show a little respect while they take my money.

PS that was my $530 worth for replacing a $200 tyre, putting wheel bearing in, putting a seal in the gear shift lever and putting my brake pads in backwards.

an update here, have been contacted by afc, shaft is screwed on shock and a new one is getting done. To clarify this thread i was just wondering if this time frame was normal or not. I am NOT ragging on afc, I have had only great service by thier parts people and this is my first experience with the work shop. i just need a little less "if your lucky" and a little more actual time frame, i am a patient man if its explained to me.

Klowns bike is back on the track. Help him refit the shock this evening, with a few alsymer moments, after receiving a desprate plee for assistance . Just needs a rear tyre to get him to Auckland.
