Arr the sound of rain on canvas.
    It's so peace full.

And have a safe trip and look out for the fools in this weather.

Maybe next year SDU will get time off for good behaviour.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

I left Chch at 1545 on Friday riding through rain squalls and bit's of tree blowing around down QE2 drive. No more rain once past Main North Rd, stong head wind all the way down and one brief shower (about 5 minutes worth). weather at the site was dry all weekend with sun and a cold but light wind.

Went out for a day ride on the Saturday with Plug, Clint640, Oldrider, my mate on the KLR and Mick who we bumped into on the day. Mick had an awesome KTM950, sounded great and man did it kick up some dust. Rode Myers Pass, Black Forest Rd, the Oldrider, my mate and I rode back via Hakataramea Pass and Myers Pass again. Plug and Clint640 went back to the site via MacKenzie Pass. Mick went his own way back to Chch. Around about a 300km day ride - great fun.

Woke to blue sky and no wind today. Breakfast at McDonalds Timaru, turned inland at Winchester and took the twisties home. Home at 1330.

Overall the weather turned out way better than predicted. You missed a great weekend Transalper.

I'll put some pics up later ...

Yep, i thought that would happen, spent all Saturday 6:30am to 6:30pm in the Factery and am there again today. It pays for the REG thats due on the Alp and helps get our empty store out of the poo with customers. The wind was a lot better here yesterday but it rained a lot. Looking out the fatory window i'd say today has been perfect all day so far. I won't have to work anoyther weekend for a while so i'll see you next weekend without fail.

Another top weekend. Wet getting out of Christchurch yesterday but otherwise dry if a touch cool.

The normal rally suspects were up to no good again - watch them deny it!

    Roll on the next one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that heard someone died after crashing into a horse float on the summit of Lindi Pass yesterday afternoon. Not sure if they were on their way to the rally or not. RIP.

    Speedygirl looses her virginity

Ohhh yeah the KB team weren't on there best behavour this rally.
Left later than planned as a somewhat rather cold southerly was pounding down on us, so those that hadn't already left and headed inland, shot off straight there vis S/H1.
Weather dried up and it wasent to bad a day. Up went the tents, off came the booze caps/lids and we went wondering.
Well it was Speedie's 1st rally and she seemed to be enjoying it, only one last thing she had to do to complete loosing her rally virginity and that was to enter the wet T comp. Didn't happen tho as we all decided that the other contenders wouldn't stand a chance so SG stood down.
However...... Speedie was now starting to disbehave, not like Shaz, Rashika's mate that was on a B12, she had been seen snogging on the dance floor with an unknown bloke and had disappeared....... you guessed it
Speedie however was just coming on form, she wondered off to get some tucker... came back from the food tent and said "here ya are lads.... eat up it was all free!"
It seems that the fella that was behind the counter (now with huge dumbarse smile) had said to SG....'show us ya tits and its free' :spudwhat:

Silly twit of the day has to go to flying DutchMan...... 1st up he decided that the new engine in his bike needed a wind up... so up onto the burnout pad he went
Now at this point I had to say that I didn't think a 30 something HP 250 would be able to cut the cake with the HD's etc that had already been up......
Ohhhhh.... how wrong I was, into 4th gear and 17,000rpm the CBR went, FDM grinning from ear to ear and starting to gag on the smoke.
Tyre blew people cheered I thought, twit, and and FDM cleaned up best burnout.

Now thats not why FDM gets the silly twit award for MHR 06..... no no no, Up on the dance floor the girls were putting on the moves, and FDM was dancing with a very hot slim blonde chick which soon had her legs wrapped round his waist..... but then he went to another chick... well old tart that didn't even come up to his knees, boggied a bit then went back to the slightly disgruntelled blonde bit.
More boggie wee peck on the check and ZZR, Jimmie, beemer69 and myself thought the fuker was in tonight.....
BUT no FDM in his pissed state of mind dropped her walked up to a "guy" gave him a hug.... well... what the blonde do?? stormed of the floor grabbed her jacket and pissed off..... FDM... you bloody silly twit

Back to Speedie... well FDM was getting a tad hyped and was bumping a couple of pissed nutes that were just standing on the dance floor smoking a hooter.
They were starting to take offence so SG stepped in and swapped places with him... well LOL in the next few moments, the pissed grump, had a very sore foot, brused rib and damn near KO'ed.... SG kept on dancing
(mental note: dont fuck with SG!)

Thats bout it off ta bed we went and crashed out.
Sweet ride home great weather and now Its KB time.... to the KB group great time asusual.
heres a couple a pics up us packing up.

Find this news item on the crash http://home.nzcity.co.nz/news/default.asp?id=60050 except the article says Lewis Pass not Lindis, Teletext says Lindis.

Now that my memory is coming back from last night, it might be able to correct Ds recollections. While yes there a blond chick, a very hot english blond chick, and yes she was getting quite friendly. But rather suddenly turned a cold shoulder on learning that I didn't ride a Harly. Maybe I should lied a little.... "come back here and I'll show you it". I tried to convince her but to no avail. What the hell is it? does she think all men need vibrating penis extensions?

As for the grandma she latched onto me & decided be down on the ground was the best place to be & foot tripped me (at least thats my story!). I then proceeded to crawl away as fast as possible. You gotta watch out for those oldies. And as for that guy - he offered! I was going to chicken out, but I didn't even get a chance to - must have scared him something chronic! Didn't see him again.

well, all back safe and sound...didn't think we were going to get there at all but managed to convince them all that YES it WAS fine down south..after a phone call down south to a relie who said "rain? What rain?" and that was enough for me!

So I started out...in the the pissing rain I might add, off to speedys place to pick her up and make sure all looked good with her gear, which it was of course
Then we both left to the meet up point...in the pissing rain Again... and meet up with the rest of the crew, which had diminished somewhat from earlier expectations. A couple had left earlier as planned and a few decided to go later. So it was up to Dangerous and Beemer89 to look after all the girls on the bikes... Speedy, Moi, SuziQ and my mate Shaz. Altho we did also have good road support in the form of 30UTD who had been banned from mounting his bike for a while to allow his knee to heal, and that has been reinforced by his lovely wife, so he had to follow in the car.
Left Rolleston ...in the rain I might add... and finally left the rain behind only a few kms down the road, and it turned into a damn nice trip. The sun came out and we finally started getting into the ride. Took the short road down and arrived at the site about 2pm, tents up (with a few helpers to get speedys up) and time to relax and meander around the site.
Pic 1-2: the girls having a pit stop at timaru mcds on the way down, and the boys, being joined by flyingdutchman to try to boost the numbers.

Lots of bikes in the bike show including my fav: a converted X1 lightning (pic 4-6) that used to be owned by a mate, and now has an S&S 1638CC motor in it along with a few other changes so it is barely recognisable as an X1, also done by the same guy who did my bike, hense the very similar paintwork...Check it out BB!

A few others were impressive: the 3 seater trike being one(does tours in Kaikoura; pic 3)

The evening went pretty much as dangerous said, the band was great and we just danced the night away...awesome! I love it when there is good music, and I can really get into the groove...even ole Dangerous got up there and showed us a move or too....and no it wasn't on some chick, he ACTUALLY can dance!

We all ended the night starring at the nightsky and having very deep and meaningful discussions about the important stuff in life like..." where the fk did all those stars come from" and such like...awe inspiring stuff
great rally...good company and just wanna do it all over again!
