    New noise regime.

    95 db for cars.
    100 db for bikes.
12 testing sites around the country and one mobile unit in Auck.
Apparently most bikes will pass. One of our Techs has been involved in initial trials on many different bikes. A de-baffled Harley will pass and that's pretty damn loud.

The new laws would very likely not have been introduced if certain motorists in cars that were of lowered, bling wheeled, tinted window, coffee-can exhaust persuasion had not persisted in flaunting their *'manhood' to vigourously in public at unreasonable times and places

    Thank you guys.

Hmm . . . is it possible for Joe Public to get a test done? Then I could find out if I need to put the baffles back in the cans before going for a warrant!

BTW - lets say you get pulled over by a cop who wants to do you for being too loud. What's the procedure? Do you get a "summons" type thing where you then have to turn up to have your vehicle tested and one of the testing sites? Or does the cop just ticket you regardless and then its up to you to contest it? In an "guilty until proven innocent" kind of way?

Was this on TV3 news the other night? I was thinking it looked like the AMPS showroom where they were filming?

In that clip a stock standard Harley exhaust passed, an aftermarket one didn't. Even the group that pushed for noise levels to be introduced think the government has set the level too low.

I'm glad its 100db, the Duc should just squeeze through and that is with the standard exhaust...., gonna have to get a different muffler for track days though

If you get stopped and they make you take it to a test station, whats to stop you fitting a baffle beforehand?
Its still a flawed system....I wonder if my Micron Race system will pass?
I need to know more about the Revs they test at etc, but can't find the info on LTSA.

Well "they" can go fuck themselves then.

My 750 is rated at 102dB @5000rpm in stock form and I'll be fucked if the gubmint are gonna tax me for having a noisy bike.

I'm told it's 2500 rpm for Harleys etc. 5000 for others.

im really dissapointed that little boi racers will now be told off for flaunting their amazing cool cars with exhausts big enough to fit your head in in the middle of the street (or macdonalds carpark the place to be) by revving the snot out of them and valve bouncing whilst their super sweet sounds are rattling every window around. what a pity.
i am taking the piss but i do believe 100 is perhaps a little low, but is that at idle or the above revving shit out of engine scenario?
i too am interested to learn more about this
