    hyosung gt650

I curently have a 2002 VTR250 and am looking to upgrade to a bigger bike, I dont want to go any bigger than a 650 and pay no more that $9000.
I have been looking at the SV650s but dont really like the shape of the new ones but trying to find a older shaped model is very difficult as they are often sold very quickly. For the price I have seen the SV's I could buy a New hyosung gt650 but not sure if its a lemon, all the reviews I have read tell me that the SV and the GT are pretty much even in power with the GT having more HP but heavier. Does anyone know if you can buy any fairings for the hyosung or belly pan ect??? so the hyosung can look like a old sv650s.

Any coments on the hyosung would be appriciated

They look pretty cool for the Money. the finish is not anywhere like the SV I Spent half an hour picking holes and noticed some hidden sharp edges and the Headlight and brackets look cheap. But the package looks good for the money. The carbs are set up for the Can so you'll be limited on that.
I considered one but your right who wants to be first. the 250s all good though and theres a 1000 planned soon.
It feels real comfy but I havnt tested one.
Your never to old for a sportsbike

Hope this link will help a little

From reviews from the UK, the biggest issue seems to be the water pump pipe juts way out, meaning it has no chance of surviving a trip onto the floor. The other comments are normally the gearbox isn't close to being as smooth as the SV and the finish could be better (but then it could on most Suzukis as well!)

It does carry a lot more weight as well.

Not heard of any plans for anyone to bring out an aftermarket set of mods as yet - I think the physical dimensions of the GT and the SV are pretty much the same.

Talking Hyosungs for the moment - has anyone ever ridden any of their other bikes (not GTs)? I was wondering what the Aquilia cruiser range were like. Now they've got a 650cc engine in place, I'd have thought it would be a logical step to bring out a 650cc cruiser - which is a big marketplace. So wondered if anyone knew how good or bad (relatively speaking) their small cruiser are?

The mags here give them good reviews and they "tell it like it is".Seems like the Hyosung is a good enough machine but not quite up there with the SV.Must have Suzuki worried as they slashed the SV prices when it came out and there`s not a lot of difference so most go for the SV.From what I`ve read here the situation in N.Z. is different and the Hyosung is quite a bit cheaper,in that case it`s well worth a look.Tests here reckon it`s got more mid-range grunt than the Suzuki and if there was a significant price differential then it`d be a valid competitor.

Just one thing to add - according to a couple of reviews I managed to find, they say the front end isn't as planted as the SV's. 'Skittish' was the word they used I believe.

Which is surprising, given that it is fitted with USD forks as standard.

It would probably push your budget to go adding fairings to the Hyosung. You'd probably have to source from overseas, the kit would need to included bracketry. You;d alos need to get it painted, so costs would be in the $1-$2000 level.

I read the front brakes on the GT 650 were a bit shitty. And the rear shock lacked travel and control...a good bike for the money...I'd go the Suzuki.

Same, my bike might be for sale if the price is right (2000 SVS). Except I'd like to keep the wheels please. Need 'em for the race wets

    Hyosung

Its a bit of a hard one to decide what to do, Be the guinea pig and buy the gt650 or just get the sv650. I guess the pros with the gt650 are I get a 2yr warrenty with it, while if I buy a second hand sv I dont get much of one if any. Nothing beats a brand new bike so I guess Im just going have to think really hard about this one.

What do you guys think about the Suzuki GS1200, That is a budget bike from Suzuki, 1200cc at $9999?. Is it a piece of crap or just well priced??
Not going to buy one but interested to see if its a "get what you pay for" bike, cos cheap doesnt always mean bad.

There's already a thread running regarding this particular model. Enough said...

One review said they suffered from the 'stainless discs in the wet' syndrome, ie. no brakes. Old farts will remember that.
