    Laptop tank bag

Looking for peoples advice on how they carry their laptops to work and back.

So far found these that may do the trick
    GT Pro
    or Tank Locker system

Main concern is the magnets affecting the Laptop HDD and also vibration if siting directly on the bike. Also would need to be waterproof/resistant.

I carry mine in a 'laptop backpack' on my pack rack with a bungy net securing it.
In rain the laptop is in a plastic bag inside the pack (which is also covered in a plastic bag). The laptop has servived this for over 3 years now....

I have the Ventura pack rack system and place the laptop in the Ventura pack in a small laptop bag. I have placed extra padding in the laptop bag and also a sheet of padding between the screen and the keyboard of the laptop.

I have been told that most damage is as a result of vibration causing the screen to be damaged.

I have been doing this two to three times per week for over a year with no damage to the laptop.

Oh, and for waterproofness I have a large plastic bag inside the Ventura pack.

So thats why im after a decent way to carry the lappy to and from work on the bike.

seeing as it's work related .. can you not get the company to fork out for a home pc for you to work from .. is it a work laptop or a personal one ?? .. i stopped using my personal laptop for work when i found out that my insurance wouldn't cover it.

on a side note ... if its a work machine ... plastic bag it in the backpack... just make sure your data is backed up .. if its personal ... i'd check your insurance policy .. you might find that its not covered as it's being used for work and not personal tasks. ... just my 2c

Taken my laptop to uni (while I was there) almost every day, in a backpack, on my back. Over a year of that was on the motorbike.

I use a Kathmandu backpack, with a sleeve for the laptop. Sometimes in rain I chucked a plastic bag over the top of it, but the bag was pretty water resistant, and it was behind me anyway, sheltered as such.

Never had a problem... oh, except for blasting through corners, off the bike, and having a heavy backpack move me around

Ahhhhh, now me being a laptop techy have always wondered this one...

I personally carry mine in my back pack but prefer not taking it if avoidable.

an IT guy i know carries his (and others) in those cases you can get for more touring style bikes (sorry, forgot what they were called)

i ride my bike pretty much every day, and my laptop is carried with me backwards and forwards(works as a DR machine in time of need).

I just where bag on back, most of the tank bags are either to bulky to to small to really fit a laptop in.
