    FOR SALE: Suzuki NZ250S

    Soldburger.

Well, the time has come to part with the faithful NZ250. I've had it for about two and a half trouble free years, only selling to upgrade.

It's a 250cc DOHC air cooled single, 4 valve, puts out roughly 30hp (same motor as the early DR250). Done about 95k, could go up as I do ride it. Motor was rebuilt by the owner before previous (which was nudemetalz ) at about 74k, though I can't prove it. Fairing and tank were repainted by crazefox when nudemetalz owned it.

It's an excellent bike for a learner: quick off the mark (leaves GNs & SRs etc for dead), very economical (around 30km / litre) and reliable - I've had no issues with it. Dead easy to ride, revvy motor with good pep for a 250, handles well, very flickable, can leave bigger sportsbikes behind in the Port Hills and over the Akaroa hill depending on what sort of rider you are

General wear and tear, starts first time (electric start, no kick), uses small amounts of oil gradually - I think it leaks rather than burns it as the motor gets oily, but it doesn't leave oil stains on the ground - but I only top it up about 200ml every couple of months so it doesn't lose much.

Done plenty of maintenance myself and had more done at the shop: new fork seals and fork internals less than a year ago, have receipts; front brake pad recently replaced, new brake shoes in rear drum, near new rear tyre, front still over 50% tread, chain and sprockets regularly lubed. WOF and rego are current.

It's a bargain for a registered, warranted 250 at $2000 ono, much cheaper than most other options. Due to it being a learner bike, cash before test ride, just to be safe.

    Now on trademe.

i have two of these (one is a donorcycle) and can vouch for the little beasty my boys rode it to the Vincent rally and had no trouble keeping up with the rest of us on the open road, they are light, nimble and go well and are reasonably strong as ours survived getting tboned by a car and apart from a little bit of broken plastic and a ripped seat its fine

Funny you should say that... It went all too bloody slowly for me!! But you get that when you know you're ready to move on to something bigger, but you can't...

Yep, I bought it off nudemetalz at the end of January, 2006. It's served me well, but it's time for me to move on up to something a bit bigger (will post it up once I've got it), and for the NZ to serve another learner as well as it's served me.

The wee NZ did me well for ages, being a faithful, reliable commuter.

Absolutely excellent on fuel, I took it to Christchurch and back once, averaging 110 km/h and it returned 31km/l !!!!
I loved the wee machine, but as I wanted to do some touring, I had to upgrade.

I did a new set of rings and a new camchain (as well as gaskets) when I had it. It was all it needed.

Oh BTW, I still have the centrestand for it also.

Great, cheers for that info nudez. I must collect that centrestand off you at some point so I can promise it to the buyer. I should also point out I've still got the factory shop manual for it too - handy thing!

Pers'nally I find them a little ugly from the rear, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Perhaps a little bit on the heavy size as a 'step-up-from-the-pint-sized-NZ (and not be used to the weight etc etc)' bike... but I wouldn't mind a go on one. Still... I've actually already made a purchase... just got to wait another week to get my greedy mitts on it!

I'm gonna post up some pics once I've got it and spent the next 3 days doing nothing but ride...
