    Red, Amber, Green and B

Have you noticed the city council is busy shoe-horning buslanes into road networks around the city, they're those bright green swathes of asphalt peppered about the place that most cagers think are pretty coloured carparks.

At some intersections the traffic lights have been augmented with an additional 'B'. 'B' is for bus you see and when 'B' lights up then the buses are free to go, unfortunetly the 'B' is white, the logic not stretching to making it green.
I recently witnessed mass confusion from all drivers at the head of the junction - no one knew what to do and there was lots of looking about and moving and stopping and looking at what everone else was doing, was very funny really - you could almost see the cagers trying to work out what 'B' was for.
I decided it was for Bikes and filtered up through the traffic and cleared the junction, shaking my head and having a laugh!

On the same topic, the new road layout at the bottom of parnell rise now has the "straight on lane" heading directly towards a traffic island, have seen one prang already, but the newly squeezed in buslane looks lovely and the 'link' drivers think so as well (every 10 mins 9-5, and every 20mins after hours and w/ends), money well spent that, maybe if there is anything left over the council might spend it on road repairs and other road hazards.

Anyways at least we can still use them, that pisses off the cagers no end

Yeah, it's an awful lot of effort considering hardly anybody uses buses.

They're actually motorcycle lanes - we just let bicycles and buses uses 'em. Perspective - we gotta get the right perspective. I love 'em in rush hour.

B is for bike and the green matches my bike oh so well.... But seriously I know what you mean, its the same down here in Wgtn. Just wish they could find/use non-slip paint, especially with all the rain around lately!

I have noticed that in heavy traffic useage areas the green paint has worn off in places already, so a good value cosmetic half assed job then. nice.

Yeah, I noticed that. Theres this one intersection that I use daily where the paint doesnt exist at all! Wonder how much its costing us taxpayers? Though in saying that I wish more people would either ride (scooter or bike) or take the bus the congestion on our roads is ridiculous, not to mention the pollution all those vehicles cause!

What's the legalities here? If you're (legally) on your bike in front of a bus at these lights, can you go on the B? Ie, does the B refer to the vehicle (bus), or the lane (and all it's occupants)?
