BB & Chanceyy's sunday pootle .. with help

its a terrible thing to be sitting at home on a sunny day & watch bike after bike after bike go past your driveway. With an arm injury making sure I can not ride my bike, the frustation has been building. However two weeks ago I took BB for a wee sojourn, but have paid the price since .. now I am trying to behave til after I have the scans etc next week to find out exactly what I have done, but I was still desperate for a pillion ride just to blow out the cobwebs & forget about the pain.. for a while

Chit chatting with Sugilite the other nite, and he had filled M-A in with my injuries, and wee melt down, so with a party to attend just down the road, perfect opportunity to pack his leathers & take me out today .. (thanks ever so much M-A for giving him the leave pass to take me out for a fang )

Sugi " where do you want to go"
me " I do not care, umm track, ballance, saddle or v hill, halcombe"
    Sugi " how about aka's, Rimutaka's"
    me "OHHHHH FARKEN HELL YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

then its been fingers crossed the weather gods would come to the party.

Anyhow this morn grey skys, it had been raining, but currently dry .. so off we set .. I have never been over aka's before (being a goat track n all) but if there is one person to go over this piece of road it would have to be with Sugi. It was great, 6 cars in total only 1 in front who quickly pulled over & let us pass, & bout a doz cyclists in total .. no rain wind & road alternated between wet n dry and it was fun fun fun. I am sure Sugi was enjoying the roll on power that is BB .. but I am sure he will be along with his take on her performace later from my point of view it was also good to see how Sugi put BB into tight twisties & let her do most of the work .. know what the next mentoring lesson will be on now

Came out over the hutt side & taka's looked rather wet .. so we went up & had a nosy - just as well mr was not around .. & flagged it no point getting wet really, so back to rimutex & met up with Wuzards Eugene, Greywolf n girls .. hi guys ...

With the boring Haywards an option Sugi suggested Moonshine Road .. (I have heard of it had no idea where it was or came out) but yup lets go .. so off again .. now that road was rather sublime .. can tell Sugi has done the Aka's & moonshine road a few times

but then came Paekakareki hill .. what an absolutely ex-hil-e-racing (oops I mean ex-hil-e-rating ride .. fan blardy tastic .. a few cars did not take the grays road option, but by the time we reached battle hill there was not a car in sight ... and stayed that way til the lookout.. now for those who have ever been fortunate enough to have had a pillion ride with Sugi either out on the road or the track will totally understand what I mean when I say "What a Rush", the pure joy of being on the back of a bike of someone not only do you trust implictly, but their level of experience & knowledge really comes into play, it really was exhilerating, and totally the highlight of the ride I know I will never ride BB to that ability, but I learnt alot & once the arm is right a few mentoring lessons to put some of those tricks into action will be on the menu.

Was rather a let down to do boring state highway 1 home however a wee doze on the back of the bike was in order & a few spots of rain for the last 20 ks home

total distance 200 ks & prob 3/4 of that was twisty twisty twisty

Thank you soooooooooooo much Sugi for getting rid of any chicken strips on BB and making sure her tires stay nice & rounded, and to M-A for allowing you the time away from your family to take me out It has meant a lot to me and I certainly have a smile back on the face.

Thanks Quasi .. only reason we did not do the taka's is no point getting wet, we knew behind us was dry, the wet greasy roads would not have worried us

    Good Read Chanceyy

Enjoyed the read, S, and haven't seen Suga for quite a long time.

Whenever you both are back down this way, flick us a message and will do a run back over the Taka's for coffee.

Yep, Was a good days riding and I certainly did have a lot of fun.
arriving at Chancey's, it was wet/dry roads and very grey...but we decided to go anyways.

Just sat with the traffic from Levin to Waikanae, then into the Aka's it was. I love this road and it's technical nature. I always found it really sharpens up ones riding and senses. The road was mostly wet, not that it changes how one rides, since the speeds are so slow, to the point even the 50 kph signs seem to goad you into being reckless just to attain that dizzy speed
I've done it more than 200 times, most of those many years ago, but what do you know, the moss still grows on the same corners, and the rockfalls are all in the same places! I pointed out what I call the never ending corner to Chanceyy, it is a real doozy when heading from east to west.

Heading for the Taka's, it was looking very grey and grim, we only got up about 1/4 of it and decided to flag it.
So it was off to the lighter sky's further South for a ride on Moonshine road, it's like a shorter version of the aka's in many ways, with a couple of "extreme" hairpins to keep things interesting!

Then it was on to Paekakareki hill, at last, mostly dry roads!!! I've done this road a sick amount of times having lived in Pram for years. The bike really flowed through nicely and did not put a wheel wrong. Showed Chancey "the line" for the corner most people love to hate!

Then it was a slow cruise back to home base to finish up, where we got just a few spots of rain. So all good!

Yep, I enjoyed all the roads, but for today, Paekakareki hill rocked!

Yes, I've always liked Suzuki bandits, as you know, my sister has one. The bike performed really well today, it performed faultlessly...considering the roads we did and the wet conditions, to get through the entire ride without a single slip or slide really shows how good the bike is.

Shhh, don't tell anyone, I've still owned more Suzukis than anything else, but that gap is glosing with the green tidal wave

Off to bed for me now, I was at that party till 4am, and only got an hours sleep!

it sure did was definitely the highlight for me .. total adrenaline buzz (a bit like the trackday )

and I am totally tempted when things come right to go try out that "never ending corner". Even though the road is a goat track I thought it was in good nick .. better than feilds track

Thanks for being such a great freind Anthony, totally appreciated you giving up a big part of your sunday to take me out for a fix

Pleased you had a great time out there chanceyy and for the write-up.

I was off bikes for 6 years due to injury, so I know how that sucks. I hope that shoulder of yours is coming right and an end is in sight!

I’ve got to find this Moonshine Rd too, as I’ve heard that’s a pretty good ride.
