    First tattoo.

Just like it says on the tin. Had the design planned for about 2 and a half years, just to make sure I was positive about the design. I got told by mates not to go too small, So I decided on a half-sleeve on the Right Shoulder. Had it drawn up by Adam Craft at Illicit on K Road. Fucking awesome dude.

It's a Phoenix, rising from the Ashes, and with it, it's carrying a 5-point star in it's claws. The star is supposed to look munted, as the idea is that it's gone through hell and back, but the effect will really come into place when it gets shaded. Had the outline and black shading done yesterday, 3 and a half hours on the table, and I proved what a wuss I really am. The bits just under my arm hurt like fuck.

Got 2 more 2 hour shading sessions booked, can't wait till it's completed. As you can see in the pics, it's still a little raw, and it looks a shitload more impressive in person.

I am so stoked, everytime I walk past a mirror, I can't believe it's finally started!

There is a fairly long story behind it, buy me a beer, and I may just tell you.

Oh crapola If'n we are driving down in the cage and you got that mean arse tatt on, peeps will think you is a gangbanger mofo'!

Guess I should get a removable dragon tattoo to complete my asian/yakuza look ... sorta like an exchange trip between East and West crime families

Nice looking piece of artwork though ... but heck if I be the one to get a tatt done (me being a wuss and all)

Cool. Yeah it hurts all-right, after the last of my sessions with Adam and two sleeves later I finally worked out the tricks to tattoo pain management.
    • Plenty of sleep.
    • Big breakfast.
    • Lots of water.
    • No alcohol the night before [ I'm told no drugs as well if your a user].
    • For the first sessions on a piece that size [outline, heavy shading] take two nurofen before.
    • Accepting the pain, smiling and staying calm and focused on the end result helps a great deal.
    Good luck.

Yeah, I got given a little tub of something called ProTat which seems to be recommended by a few people. Will take it with me to work tomorrow.

Cheers for that, I found after the first 20 minutes the endorphins (spelling?) kicked in, and made it a little easier. Will definitely take a few Nurofen's next time. Adam managed to keep me pretty sidetracked by talking endlessly about cool bands.

    Cheers guys.

Next installment is early May, as Adam is booked for 2 months solid! Ah well, at least I have plenty of time to psych myself up for round two.
