    Showing off

Assembled the bike today after a week of painting it.

Except for some newbie mistakes, it's looking alright. Not bad for a first effort in custom painting.

Has a bit of dirt in the clearcoat that I'll buff out, a bit of dryspray and a run (not good at clearing over white, can't see what you're doing).

I got the gold pinstripe tape (colour inspired by the RC30) as I was expecting to cock up the masking. Sure enough, the tail and bottom section, the bits I did first, needed it. And the headlights did too. The blue and red turned out alright after learning from my previous mistakes, so I left them alone.

Regretting the gold pinstripe around the lights. Plus I made them too pointy. Looks a bit... flamboyant. Not too keen on respraying so soon so I might just get some black tape and put it over the clear.

Otherwise I'm quite happy with it.

And I made that muffler a while ago.

Look like a good job. I sprayed a bike about a year ago for the first time and like you I had a few newbie mistakes but found it a great learning experience at the same time.
Its a great feeling to be able to look at a bike and see your hard work right infront of you so congrats on it and enjoy

Doesn't take me long to fuck up new paint.

Bent the front subframe back to the fairings would sit better. This meant the dashboard was further to the left where it should be. However I was not used to the fact you can't go opposite lock to the right anymore. At my mates place last night (I wasn't drinking) made a U turn on his slightly angled driveway, brand new and cold front tyre slipped, tried to catch it by turning further right, dash wouldn't let me, landed on the single sided swingarm side (the good looking side). In front of everyone no less.

Paint is scratched. I can repair it obviously, but it's a matter of principle more than the inconvenience. Plus I already used a tonne of supplies at work experience, I'd be a dick if I wanted to repair the bike so I'll have to leave it. It'll only get scratched by the end of the day anyway. Plus the brake lever is broken.

You should repair it again because it looked mint so it would be a pity to leave it all scratched. Hate them dumb awkward little falls and slips

It's not a simple buff up, it'll require respraying. Bog, primer, base, clear. After I spent tonnes of time and resources at work experience, I don't think I'd be allowed to, or I would be allowed to but everyone would get pissed.

I want to respray in the future to get rid of the glamorous eyes. I'll get the bike road legal first and let it accumulate more scratches and stone chips before I paint it again.

    Good stuff

And good imagination for what you did for paint. All I did for mine was get it painted black again, with a decal on the tank!

I suppose it took imagination to get the designs I based it on to work on this bike. Went for the wing style like off the VTR SP and colours like the RC30.

This was a shit load of work and a plain colour and stickers would've been easier on the brain Some stickers are planned, I left a bit of white under the wings for a VFR logo, plus I want a Honda badge on the tank.

There's plenty wrong with it. The wings are thicker on the side fairings than on the tank and the blue on the tank is way off near the seat. The tank can be remedied with a tank protector covering it, and the rest looks good enough as it's flying past

    That's why I'm a refinisher

I'll head up your way once the thing is road legal. Dad is still keeping it locked in the garage so I don't go zooming off.
