what a most excellent day - Itrackdays and arriving nice & early meant a few stalls were appropriated we were able to keep everyone together
was not as nervous today as I was the first time I took the RZ out on the track two yrs ago .. but being aware of a bigger bike more horsepower was acutely aware that the corners would approach more quickly
went out for the scrub in session & followed 86 for a while until a few bikes got between us, but just in cruise mode & settled any nerves
well the drizzle started just as the first race bikes went out but stopped just before the novice group hit the track .. was not keen to do my first round on a wet track .. so Sugi offered to pillion me on my own bike & show me lines etc ..well a girl can not turn down that kinda offer
so thanks Sugi it helped to be able to talk about it ... (til the leader came up behind us - but excellent advice when we went around the first corner
)
so next session & the track was drying out nicely .. after the good advice from the previous session I managed to find myself some nice space and had a clear track to work withthis meant I could just concentrate on what sugi had told me previously .. & just get a flow going .. blardy awesome too
unlike the times on the RZ I was not lapped in this session
found the sessions after lunch were amped up .. unfortunately we had a race bike in there and the speed went up from the novice of 120 to ... well dunno wot it was but no where near the 120-140 range & being out the back meant I got lapped no probs in this one .. however the last session of the day & coming out of the hairpin (smallish group) the leader got past & a harley, (nice wheelie) then was past on the outside all sweet ..I was aware on the inside here was a bike & fark me only about 2 inches away & getting closer so a bit of evasive action required .. and then the finger
plenty of room to pass me without having to make contact or even anything remotely close to it ..

what did I learn .. well from riding home afterwards 100ks is very slow, and its amazing how much more "time" you have to assess a corner .. Do I think it will improve my road riding .. absolutely .. not from a speed factor, but by trusting the bike & leaning it over more & finding out in a safe environment that it will do what I ask then yes its been totally worth it .. not to mention the fun factor & social aspect
Cheers to Balzybuell and Coffeejunkie .. balzy rode up with me this morn and CJ took my gear in the car, & joined on the way home with Rustys & Duke Girl, Nice wee convoy... so guys lets do it again next weekend
apart from watching the fiasco in one of the race sessions after a major off .. I enjoyed the day .. would like to see the groups with colored stickers though to stop those certainly do not belong in said groups coming in.
Roll on VMCC next sunday
