All suggestions welcome. Still a newbie at this. Needing your professional help to set up some long ones. At this stage I'm looking at setting up two medium runs. One being Napier / Taupo (National park?) loop, with feed stops for the horses. Another being Taraunga way with an Awakeri stopover. (Poss mid winter/ spring). If we can link into other regions riders for one or two organised rides a year that's good.

    Shorter and L o n g e r r r r r r r r r r .

So are you coming on board to share the wisdom Grand Master.

Will probably see me at some stage. Here's one I prepared earlier (though never completed): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sadd...6,4.416504&z=8

Driving directions to Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand
    984 km – about 17 hours 46 mins

Now this bit I like. I always thought it took ages to get to Wangas. Also can be split into different rides easily with some variations.

Yep a nice figure 8 and some great roads in there. Also lots of other small changes that could be made and still keep the distance pretty similar. You can usually cut out 1,000km in 12 - 12.5 hours without being silly although that route does have quite a bit of back road stuff.

I may have to convert the VTR to a Varadero...

All we need now are some cowboyz and a few head of cattle and we'll be back in the old days. Sorry a bit before your time.

Sounding good, the wagon wheels are turning.

That was a great ride Kitty-yes I enjoyed myself
I think this thing is going to take off as the days are getting shorter and there are plenty of peeps wanting to ride.
I am happy to have a go at tail end charlie anytime as I too quite enjoy the cruisy ride at the back to enjoy the scenery.
You could even go as far as arranging an overnite ride a little further out...with a tipple or two....

Oh dear, another sad little post from the man who thinks sarcasm is wit.

Overnighters, hot pools, great food, great company, tipples - all fit in nicely with the scheme of things but we've got to keep the short distance riders busy and work around / with major events.

    Even running with the BUeLLS

Maybe join KB'ers in Hawkes Bay for a route that they choose, then stay the night in Napier - Archie's Bunker (backpackers) is a great place, has off road parking for bikes and has great location in city centre.

Wairarapa: lunch at Castle Point, Lake Ferry, Tin Hut, Gladstone Pub or Martinborough. Could join with Wgtn KB'ers.

Forgotten Highway. Did this recently with AKL KB'ers.

Had a great time with you lot and hope to join your group again. Will post a few pics and a video later today.

Thanks Gizmo : for organising and leading the ride last weekend. Totally positive feedback all round.

Any Manawatu riders that want to get on board with a new friendly motorcycling club are welcome to come along to our social meeting at Murray's bar in Feilding. 25th March.

Come and meet other local riders with a wide range of bikes represented and put your ideas forward for future rides.

Why not, check out the new club website on google groups. Feilding Riders

We need some experienced sensible riders to lead some of these rides including several scheduled long distance events throughout the year.
