Thanks for tht lead TLDV8. Here are the pictures still a little bit of work in progress but I am very pleased. You know it was a complete and utter ...whatever that the tank or side covers never suffered any damage whatsoever.

Hey BuckBuck, 1st let me say how grateful I am as another noob biker that has someone like you reporting and recording all your efforts and experiences. I'm glad you are okay and hope your thumb heals quickly! I've just been getting on my bike today and was so impatient to get riding, I started off in the wet!

It's thanks to your sterling and honest reporting that I've managed to take onboard some of the things you've said and encountered. You've inspired me to also start my riding diary and enter in it the format and details you've done!

So now, all I need is a mentor! heh ... as for your carpark incident, at least you were doing it to improve your skills - I almost took a drop myself after I was stationary and trying to take off! Fortunately I recovered and ended up taking a few deep breaths while parked on the pavement!

Keep it up BuckBuck! I would also enter my riding experiences, but I think it would pale in comparison!

Hey Buck,

Bummer about your off - at least it sounds like it was relatively minor. I haven't done it yet, but I came embarrasingly close while I was backing it up in my parent's driveway with my Mum watching (I don't think she realised that was a grimace on my face as I realised I was slowly tipping to the left!). That certainly wouldn't have counted since the engine wasn't even on, but I reckon yours does - heal up fast!

Gidday A_H, was a bit of a bummer ouch when I let go and my butt kissed mother earth.
Got up the Takas today. The bike has had a makeover and the new bars and mirrors have change the style. Look forward to spring and some rides to put names to faces.

Prophetic words BuckBuck! Just today, I binned my bike in the back bushes! A stunningly simple thing to do, but at least it didn't cost $$'s nor flesh so it was a learning point!

So, I binned my bike on the 2nd day I've owned it!
Total km's covered to date before binning : less then 300!

but I just picked it up, and go on riding again! A bigger grin on my face then ever before!

On with the learning, and learning safely that is!

On the positive side, perhaps it's best done sooner than later. Now make sure you park it up, give it a good clean, and say sorry

Though it is only early days hook up with your mentor and talk about what and how this happened from your perspective in the first instance, then seek constructive feedback from your mentor and as time progresses, go back and revisit the circumstances that lead to you second day 'binning'. You will benefit from getting your mentor's input and in a few weeks you can both discuss the case with your having gained some more insight during your riding to appreciate more fully what went wrong.

My first off was in front of my mates in the bloody driveway of my house of all places. I clipped the carport pole with the edge of my handlebar and hello ground.
