    Antifog pinlock inserts

Just wondering how many people have one of these fitted to their helmets?

If you dont, you dont know what your missing!
They are fantastic in the cold winter mornings and nights.
For the sake of a bit of cash, its worth it as they simply DO NOT FOG.

I am offering a deal at Motomart.
Bring your helmet in and ill fit the pinlocks and the insert to your helmet while you wait, FREE OF CHARGE!
Will only take about 5 minutes.
Holes will need to be drilled in your visor for the pinlocks to go on, but once in place you will barely notice them.

They are Shoei Pinock Inserts, but can be fitted to nearly any brand visor.
Cost of the insert is $49.99.

So if your interested, pop in at Motomart, 7 Rutherford St, Lower Hutt

Pinlock inserts rock! I'd like to get my hand on one of those photochromic jobbies.

The pins are semi-permanently mounted but the inserts aren't. So they can be removed in dusty conditions - they aren't as tough and scratch-resistant as a visor. They can also be cleaned if water gets between them and the visor, but that's really only necessary because they flexedmoved and broke the seal.

All them work well when new. Haven't found one yet that works long-term. FogCity ones scratch easily - earlier ones didn't. They also come unstuck eventually and get water inside. ProGrip... came unstuck and got water inside (photochromic change almost negligible). Pinlock... won't stay in place anymore, sags and lifts off the visor, has to be reset all the time (this is on a flip-front helmet that has to be slammed closed to latch).

For all that, I persevere with them, for the times when they work. Just wish they worked for longer. Haven't decided which one I'll go for next... don't ask.
    Cheers,
    Colin

I use a pinlock visor on my Shoei helmet and it works great. Will still fog occassionally, but by far the best option on the market.

Would this work for an FFM helmet?

Sorry to rain on your parade but yes they do! Given the right conditions. (perhaps should read, "wrong" conditions)

Just no where near as bad as any others that I have tried!

Maybe it depends on the kind of bike you ride, but I bought some, and when I ride my GSXR, the top of the fog thing is right in my line of vision. Yes they work, but I'm not happy to use them when they compromise what I see clearly.

Has anyone else had this problem when using this on their shoei helmets?

    What brand were you using?
And was it fitted correctly with an even seal around the whole insert?

I have used them for over 7 years and not once has one ever fogged.
But maybe in the hard south island winter the conditions might be a bit more extreme.

Yes I should be able to make it work on an ffm visor.
The only visor these particular ones wont work on are Arai visors. But they have their own pinlock systems.

Ive had this issue, but just changed my style to make do.
Personal preference though in the end.
