No ACC on RUCs or diesel !

I have just spoken to the ACC helpdesk regarding what the ACC component of Road User Charges is.... Their answer:

THERE IS NO ACC IN RUCs OR DIESEL !

A diesel vehicle pays ACC as part of its annual registration fee but nothing further. For example the ACC component of a diesel truck's rego (Class #9) is $268.92 and that is the total of their ACC levy payment. Mum's 'school bus' SUV (Class #6) pays $247.42 per year, end of story.

My point is that ACC is in cash grab mode and we are in their sights, but there appears to be a huge portion of the motoring public that are getting off virtually scott free in terms of ACC levies. ACC are not going to back down on us for no good reason because they claim to be financially screwed and yet there is a far larger cash cow that is going unmilked.

Whichever way you join the dots it makes sense to me, and is potential ammo for a submission.
