We need a 7km straight road

The Land Speed sidecar guys want to have a better bash at the world record to better the 272kmh they have already set and are looking for a nice straight billiard table smooth road 7km long, it also got to be flat with no uphill/downhill bits in it(they know it's not much of an ask)

the reason for the 7km is they want a 3km run up, they are timed over the next 1km and then they turn around and do it again the other direction

if anyone has anything they think may be suitable in their area then post it here or email them at flyingkiwi@snap.net.nz
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

We jealously guard that info for fear that it will get into the wrong hands.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

What's that long straight near Murupara where the cages set the NZ speed records (does anyone have a copy of NZ performance car with the 1300 hp Skyline doing an attemp about 3 years ago? )
    It's not a beer pot .... It's a fuel tank for a sex machine

It would have to be north of Taupo as the lower North Island dosn't get the funding for long smooth billiard table roads.

That's Goudie Road. On the eastern side of the Reporoa valley between Rotorua & Taupo, comes off hwy 38. Let us know if they use it, I'll cruise over for a look.

The Murapara straight is 7 km long. Really smooth too at Blackbird speeds if you get my drift

There is a section of SH1 either desert road or near there that runs straight for quite a while. Took about 30 mins to cross it doin about 110-120 so should be long enough for ya. Wasn't smooth when I went through though cause of roadworks but that was a few months ago so who knows what it's like now.

I don't think you'd get a 7km flat bit - that road is pretty narrow and there are a lot of dips and bends on it. Motuiti Road would be good - but I'm not sure how long the straight is there. I know someone who got up to 300kph on a Blackbird along there... no names, mind!

actually, they are logging roads, built and paid for by the logging companies. they don't have to pay ruc on them, but they are open to the public.
