NSR 250 water system plumbing, HELP!

Got a serious leak from a total lack of pipes to attach to a nub that comes out from the junction of large pipes in the cubby above the front cylinder. Seems to be an overflow thing, same sort of size nub but I've already got one of those coming from the radiator cap, and I have no more pipes left to attach to it, that I can see. And once I fill the water up it begins spewing precious green liquids all over the floor.

As you can tell I've totally done this before (sarcasm) and having not even taken this engine out (bought it with seized engine on the floor next to it) I'm really stumped. So any help would be most graciously appreciated.

    Cheers.

If you havent done it before then you should have some one who knows about 2stroke working with you showing you the way mate will make it easyer in the long run

I'd say it's supposed to go to the catch tank at a guess. Although that normaly goes from the radiator cap area.

It would indeed texmo, but I aint got one. So here I am.

And I do indeed have the overflow comin' from the radiator cap White Trash, I thought it might be that to, even tried to put the line from the radiator cap onto this mysterious nub but it doesn't fit. So I figure it's got nothin' to do with overflow, willing to be proven wrong however.

Here's a couple pics of the nub in question, assuming I did it right, circled in yellow. Who does he belong to?!?

Well that's just odd. These little critters don't have water heated carbs to prevent them icing or anything do they?

I think I'll PM everyone who has an NSR. And I found this pic of the bit in question, but as would be the way, it shows the nub with nothing connecting to it. Crapface dongle. Its on the bit middle/top with the large hoses going to it, nub poking out to the right. What else would need to come off this junction?

    re mc 16 plumbing

taco, just joined this forum to have a word with you ,
i cant see from your pic.but it looks like the outlet, from the expansion bottle to the thermostat housing.what shape are your barrels?16 should have hexagonal.ive put the later 18(round barrels) on mine .that way you can junk the expansion bottle.cos the later heads dont have the extra outlet to thethermostat housing.if you have any questions about 16's,i will be glad to help.as mine spends more time in bits than together
heres a photo of mine just rebuilt

Yeah hexagonal. And if that does go to the expansion bottle, should I have a Y-pipe somewhere cause I havent got any more plugs into the bottle. Nice bike btw, superb paintjob.

Rechecking a combination of diagrams at nsr-world it is indeed the thermostat housing, and in one diagram it shows a short tube going in the direction of the expansion bottle, a clip on its other end. So it's gotta be around the expansion bottle at least.

I will not be defeated. For long.

Welcome along tlr monkey, that's bloody nice of you to join to give someone a hand.

Cool looking NSR, nice paint scheme. Is your TL modified too or a stocker?

Indeed a fabulous gesture, many thanks tlr.

And there is no other nub on the expansion bottle, and the diameter of the available nubs are mismatched, bar the breather but I have a diagram that clearly states the breather so it can't be that one. One of the parts list also says the pipe that comes off it is 165mm, and there is nothing within 165mm for it to plug to other than the bottle. It's madness.

Ya reckon just blanking this thing off will work? I've found a suitable bit of pipe and a broken M8 tap that blocks it off quite nicely. I get the feeling there might be considerable pressure behind it though, so a y-junction to the overflow coming from the radiator cap might work, but the tubes are different diameters, so that makes no sense.

    Fun with bikes!!
