    Woodville Lions Club 13th annual
Suzuki Coast to Coast motorcycle ride.

    When: 10th December, 2005

Coast to coast is on again this year guys from Himatangi to Akitio (where ever that is), 9:30am sign on at Himatangi township. Entry fee of $20 which also gets you a BBQ lunch in Woodville en route.

Can somebody tell us more about it? I haven't heard of it before.
Remember to never split an infinitive. The passive voice should never be used. Do not put statements in the negative form. Proofread carefully to see if you words out. And don't start a sentence with a conjugation. (William Safire)

Akitio is out Herbertville way - hence the name coast to coast - west to east. It's a fundraiser for the rescue helicopter or Lions or something like that (memory deserts me!), you get a badge and free lunch.

I've done it once, and once was enough for me - although I have heard the riders have been better behaved in recent years. I started after most of the riders but after the lunch stop I had two idiots overtake me on a corner in the windy stuff leading out to Herbertville - one on the inside of me and one on the outside. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed, but I felt a lot better when I got a few corners on and found both of them in the ditch! I tooted, gave them the finger and kept riding!

I heard that last year and the year before the police presence seemed to moderate the idiotic behaviour that has been evident some years.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Ive done it a few times. Pretty relaxed riding from Himitangi To Woodville. Awesome winding roads from Woodville to Akito. Police do have a reasonably strong presence these days but saying that, they dont ruin the day. One year an officer on a police bike ended up in the drain on a straight forward corner. And another year I was near the front of the front pack, whice was led by an officer riding a TL1000 and we were riding quicker than 160kph, on windy country roads.

Are there any folk from the Hawkes Bay looking at doing it this year and wouldn't mind some company on the ride over? I'm a starter at this stage.

I'll be leaving from Havelock North and happy to ride at any pace. Will be meeting people in Dannevirke and Palmerston.

Sounds good. I'll know closer to the day if my plans have been changed for me. Cheers.

I'm going to go, this will be fifth year running.
Great day out, get to see all shapes and sizes of bikes and riders.

The map shows the general route (blue line) Some of the back roads can be a bit dodgey. All in all it's a good day out.

Here's some shots of last years run

Yeah sounds like the cops turn a bit of a blind eye on this event as far as speeding goes. Velox reckoned they were even stopping traffic at intersections for the bikers. Havent done it myself so I dont really know much else about, guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Yep - I'll be there. Bit of fun last year. It was a bit disturbing being very closely surrounded by 400 other bikes as I rode along though - just means you need to be really alert to what everyone else is up to and ride reasonable 'predictably'.

yip a mate and myself are booked on ferry to come up went last year and was a good ride well organised and police where realy good. as far as heaps of other bikes around you it only seems to be at the start and leaving stops you soon find a group of people with the same pace and i think most paces are catered for. i think pics above show the great variety of bikes and riders its worth ago and supports westpac trust helicopter which is an awesome service see ya there
