    Clean enough for you?

No its not porn, but after me moaning it was too cold yesterday morning and I couldn't be bothered cleaning our dirt bikes after most of the week in Martinborough, today in Wellington area was gloriously warm and calm.

So I put all 3 dirt bikes outside and gave them a thorough clean and the pic shows the result. Clean enough you reckon?

Gave me a good excuse to ride them all to dry them out properly too!

With the weather the way it was I hope you all did some good riding. Plenty of bikes were going along SH58 in either direction and even the Harley boys going by did wave at a mere dirt biker - cool huh!

Afterwards put the stickers on my new Honda.

Yeah I know it's a hard ask to get bikers to swap for a car but ya never know. I see you're out Plimmerton way? Are you able to ride the hills in the background? I assume it's all private through there. Do you practice up at Atoea block much? Has the develpoment dampened things much up there?
Hang on I haven't finished I've got 16 more quest... get o.ff... ow

Its harder finding places to ride these days off road and I only went to Aotea once. That's why we have road legal dirt bikes and make sure we ride the gravel roads of the Wairarapa or go to organised adventure rides or trail rides.

If you get a bike in time the Capital Coast Adventure ride is coming up on 1 April. See this http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=22901

I don't think they do. There's a commercial tip in the gully and I think Colonial Knob is only for walkers.

Why I'd love to go on that ride Merv - did you wanna swap something motorcycle for the Charade?

750Y: No good now, they built commercial buildings all over the land up by the tip. Back in the 80's I was a regular there too. Here's a couple of pics when I was on my beautiful XR200RD in December 1983 riding the tracks that were there then.

Colapop: Sorry already said I don't need your car.

Flash: I use kero to loosen the oil and grease, then just hose them followed by washing with the wash brush and then ride them to dry them out. If there is still a few dusty or grubby bits I take to it with spray on multipurpose cleaner and a rag - usually have to use that on the seats. Any hard to remove muck I might use Liquid Diamond polish or some sort on vinyl cleaner on the plastic bits. Then I follow up by spraying on something like CRC on all the movable bits like footpegs, sidestand etc wiping the excess off with a rag. Trick there is so that rust won't set in on any bits with paint worn off which is quite normal on dirt bikes - you can't keep the paint on everywhere due to wear and tear even where your boots rub on the frame. If they get bad enough I might touch up the paint. If they look like new they run like new that's my theory and I have no trouble keeping bikes for years.
