    World Cup Football Thread

Here are my predictions for the Round of 16 based on the games played so far.

    Edit: June 15
    Game 1: Germany vs Sweden
    Game 2: Argentina vs Portugal
    Game 3: England vs Ecuador
    Game 4: Mexico vs Netherlands
Game 5: Czech Rep vs Croatia
    Game 6: France vs Ukraine
    Game 7: Brazil vs Italy
    Game 8: Spain vs Switzerland

I dont think Brazl will win the cup this year due to their playing too much european football and their form hasnt been that great.

England are in with a chance but need gerrard to play as there will be a lot of long distance shots on goal. Hopefully, England will beat Sweden in their group - if not then Game one will be England vs Germany and Game 3 will be Sweden vs Ecuador (Ecuador bt Brazil when they played last I think).

I think england will win the group now after swedens performance (national holiday in Trinidad I think for that draw).

They will have their fast (sprinters) two strikers owen and roony on the sides, with their long shot takers beckam, lampard and gerrard.

Their defense will be interesting to see how it comes with fast breaks or shots crossed to the far post - I think thats where they are weak.

Can we get this thread put into pointless dribble, which funnily enough is exactly what England played last night so I heard. Lots of pointless dribbling.

I've noticed that soccer is played by far more New Zealanders than rugby is.

    So whats going on???

Is there a line drawn? Do the Men in this country go and play rugby on the weekends while the others head off to soccer?

Why do we suck so bad at soccer?

As for the world cup, only found out last week it was on. Only found out 30 minutes ago it was in France or Germany, Can't remember!
And still to this day. I can name the entire all black team and most super 14 teams but I can't name one NZ soccer player! Bwahahahaha! We Sux!

I think japan just needed to take more shots at goal.

    !
NZ is reasonably unique - The rest of the world (outside of Private Schools) has little interest in Rugby. It's the fourth tier sport.

Until this morning the allwhites had a superior world cup record to Aus. (they may still do atchally)
