March Hare Rally - new owners

Latest news update on the March Hare Rally from Nigel Fahey

    Hiya Everyone,

You all may have heard all the many different rumours going around about the march hare rally in recent times.

I can now officially inform you all that the March Hare has new owners. The offer we have made to the Waimate Motorcycle Club has been accepted. It has been bought by Phil, Stu, Bill and myself.(all mad waimos) and we are in the process of forming a proper club which by the looks of it will be called the March Hare Motorcycle Touring Club Inc.

So this means that the March Hare is DEFINITELY ON for the 2,3,4th March 2007 and we have started organising things already.

It will be held at a new location which is the Waimate Showgrounds on the southern side of town heading towards the gorge about 1km out.

Can you please pass this information onto as many of our fellow riders and other clubs that you can of this news and we hope to see you all there.

If anyone needs to know anymore info just contact me on either 027 344 5001 or 029 468 2455.(these are my new numbers)

Stay upright and keep the rubber on the road...

    Regards, Nigel Fahey

    Just a few thoughts...

How big are the showground's compared to the current site?

Will you be digging holes and using the bogs you have at the old site? Or will it be poxy portaloos now? Or are there proper bogs like the Winchester rally?

Being the public showground's, I imagine the rally will become even more family oriented (less tits) than it has already become. What are your plans here?

Will the entry fee be remaining as is, or increasing to cover the rental of the new site, or perhaps decreasing?

What’s the likely hood of noise complaints from the locals, with the site being so close to the town?

Not trying to be a wet blanket, I hope all goes well for you guys - and us - I'm just curious.

Most important: How far away is the nearest pub?

I'll pencil it in, haven't had a go at the March since 2002 or thereabouts.

Don't tell all the Ch-ch riff-raff and it will be a good rally.

The trouble with drinking at the pub is you then have to get back to the rally. Much easier to just get trashed at the rally and collapse there

    March Hare

    Hi Far queue,

The site is a just a wee bnit smaller but everyone will fit in ok.
There are plenty of flush toilets in the main area and we will have portaloos in the tent area(these will be serviced very regularly).
The rally will be run in the same format as the WMC did.Im a big advocate for the wet t shirt and this will be very actively advertised..trust me!!!
Entry fee wil remain as is as we have cut a good deal with the showgrounds committee.
We have spoken to neighbours re music noise and there isnt too much of an issue there..its the council we have to get past and we are meeting with them soon, as for the bike noise...they will have to live with it!!!
hope this answers a few of ya questions..
    see ya there
    regards,Nige

Cool, thanks for the response, I was just wondering. I was always planning on being there for my 8th March Hare. As I said, I hope all goes well you - and us.

A couple of wee requests - what's the chances of getting Izzy (sp?) back up on stage for the wet T? She did the sausage sizzle for you a while ago and was a very popular winner in the wet T. Or how about the chick in the pic

Amazing how many dudes walked right past her - or even stopped and spoke to her without noticing she had no shirt on!!

yehaaaa!!! Was bit worried that it wasn't going to be on. Just had a count up of badges, it'll be my 11th, not too bad going really.

Be interesting at a new site again. I must admit I was preferred the old Waihou forks site, with the river running round it...was a nice spot. Much more wind protection than the newer-ex site.

    Cant wait!!

a new site.... i'll be along to have a look. First time in years for me. Only went to Hunter twice because I disliked the site especially having been to thr Rally the year before it moved there.
