    Do Not Buy This Bike!!!

If you are looking for a bike and you see this DO NOT BUY IT.
I showed some interest and was told by the vendor that it had only had light damage - "a couple of scratches and a wee dent in the tank". I did the right thing and got the history of the bike (Thanks to the buying a used bike thread). I spoke to the previous owner. It turns out that this bike was parked at right angles into a ditch, the rider went over the handlebars and into a field suffering only minor injuries. For those of you that know him this is Shayne Hawtin's (sp) bike. The bike was not as lucky as the rider and suffered major damage -frame, forks, fairing etc... I'm happy I spent $25 on a VIR certainly saved me from spending anything on this bike.

I was going to put this in online trading but it's more of a Rant

    That's the one Darkman.

It can get a WOF and re-certified but that doesn't mean that it's any good. This bike was written off for good reason and the only thing that should be sold on are the parts that aren't stuffed.

Does anyone even know what year it is ?..... The Trade Me auction says 97 TLS.The bike in the ditch is a 98 unless it had crashed previously and had the fairings replaced.TLS's are good bikes, you just need to know what to look for since a lot have been down the road by now...I personally would not touch a 97 TLS. 1998 is better (Gearbox/Wider ouput shaft bearing) but from 99 they got quite a few updated parts off the TLR..Clutch/Gearbox/Oilpump/Windage tray...fwiw

Colapop, you should ask the seller some rather pointed questions.
