    Korean Safety

Not long to go now until I leave the R.O.K. so I thought I'd take to the streets and give the KBers a glimpse of inner-city riding culture in Daegu, S.Korea.

Out of the city you can see the latest Japanese and European bikes battling it out on some of the most gorgeous, wide-open mountain sweepers you'll ever see. Riders with the trickest Dainese leathers, Arai helmets and armour et al.

    Meanwhile in the city, well...
Generally you'd be lucky to see someone wearing a helmet, let alone boots and gloves.

Here are a few pics I gathered in the course of about 5 minutes on the busy streets around my neighbourhood.

#1 Protect your lungs with a mask - don't worry about your head.
    #2 125cc Cruiser delivery service
#3 Maximise your luggage space - stack!
    #4 (#3 view from back)
#5 Too much to carry? Ride one-handed.
#6 Traffic too busy? Take to the footpath!

    A couple more...

#1 Fluro-man "Pok-Ju-Jok-In" or Wannabe gansta (they sometimes mount ridiculously big stereo speakers on the fueltank and can barely see over the top - no pic sorry)
#2 No more luggage space? Strap it to the front fender.
#3 Live fast - die young and pretty.
    #4 Nice (cheapos) rack.
#5 & #6 3-wheeled scoots for those who were 'Born to Be Wild' 100 years ago...

    Enjoy~!

Hope this rooster wearing trick Dainese and Arai remembers the fundamentals of rider safety tonight...

His safety that is, if he doesn't want the KFC Kid and the rest of the Hayden clan hunting his little Spanish ass. Them banjos might hurt.

Tha Jandal: Adding another dimension to "rubber side down"

Jandal [jan-duhl] noun: a mythical entity presiding over bikers
Jandal [jan-duhl] verb: "to jandal" is to involuntarily separate from one's boik.
Jandalled [jan-duhlled] past tense - usage: "bro, I've just gone and jandalled it"

Here's something that the Koreans wouldn't like you so see. This kid had his Hyosung GT650 for just three months before departing this life. This was the model with the notorious "wooden brakes" where they used the calipers from the GT250. He had never ridden a bike before...

    That's sad to hear HB
Yep, I've seen quite a few accidents unfold before my eyes in my short time here in the ROK.
Generally, the standard of riding is good - but some riders make the stupidest mistakes; like a U-turn at a blind corner. Result = T=boned.

    Stay safe all~

Yep! I queried the source, and it's from Korea. It's actually heartbreaking and a real waste of a life.
