FOR SALE: MC19 '88 Honda CBR250R(Twin headlight Model)

Time for my old bike to go, I'm the only New Zealand owner and have had it since it was imported on the 8th Jan 2001.

It's been in storage for just over two years now, has been gathering dust ever since I got the YZF750R.

Having said that, I fitted a new battery last year, tyres are near-new, 4mm of tread on the front, 6mm on the rear, I had new front fork seals, rear brake pads and fuel filter fitted a few weeks ago.

Took it for a warrant today, passed with flying colours, will provide a pic of the wof sheet with pics of the bike once I get hold of another Digital Camera(damn Nikon died on me)

Has 28,870k's on the clock. had 17,750 when imported. It's the Black/Grey colour scheme.

As for condition, the engine, gearbox, etc is in fantastic order, the exterior is a bit average, with a few scrapes on the bars, exhaust, etc, nothing that a bit of TLC wouldn't sort though.

Am going to list it on here for a few weeks, if it doesn't sell I'll have it on trademe, but I'd rather it go to a fellow KB'er

$3000, can arrange freight(not included in price) for out of towners, test rides are welcome, but be aware I'll be holding onto your licence or keys while you do.

    Hi there

I'm looking to get into biking and like the look of the CBRs and ZXRs. Ive done a bit of basic learn to ride stuff on a TZR250 but I still have a lot to learn. Seems like a pretty nice bike and would be perfect for me. If you still have it after the 16th Feb (the date Im back in chch) I would really love to come have a look.

    Matt

I'm in no hurry to sell, so it should still be here by then.

A couple more questions. I have heard that when bikes sit for long periods the oil can spoil and the seals can dry out. Is there truth to this? Do you think it would be a problem? Also is there anything that needs to be done (or will need to be done in the near future) on her? I am an engineering student so I'd like to learn to do my own maintenance, but I'd like it to be a learning curve not a shock at the start :P

Oil as such, doesn't spoil, if it is subjected to contamination, that is when you'll run into spoiling issues.

Having said that, next oil change is due at 30,000k's, was last changed at 25,000.

Only really needs cosmetic attention, namely a good clean.

Hi again. The more I read the keener Im becoming on getting one of the inline 4's. I was just wondering with the kind of power these things produce is the single front disk a problem/danger? What is the riding position like compared to its mc22 brother? It's probably easier to wait for a viewing but I'm curious, are there any dents or fairing cracks or is the cosmetic condition you speak of mostly dirt with a few scrapes? I didn't see it mentioned, what is the registration status and how much tread is left on the tyres? What I meant with my previous question was - when a bike comes outa storage are there any things one needs to do or precautions one needs to take?

No cracks in the fairings, only thing that could be considered a dent would be the scrape on the end of the exhaust. see my original post for tyre tread depth, etc.

Bike will be sold with 3 months rego.

Will find out for you, any particular suburb? I normally use Jeffs who deliver door to door, as it were.
