A question for all KB members

Recent attempts by the ladies to publicly organise a girl only ride has attracted criticism from some male members.

This got me thinking. Is organising a girl only ride in open forums going against the spirit of KB?
Or should they arrange these rides in secret, or go somewhere else to organise them?

    What do you think?

    mrs busa pete

First off i will say i don't ride I'm to chicken. But yes they should be allowed to organize girl only rides when you consider how many rides that go up saying 250 riders only. To me there is not much difference

If there wasnt a section for biker angels or if there wasnt free organization in here i would probably have said no - but there is and its not against the rules. If the rules said we werent allowed to do it i would abide by those because i would have signed up knowing that.

I don't care either way... if you want a girls only ride, however as long as if you don't kick up a stink saying equal rights if some one says "Guys only ride" like female do every where else....

ie; golf clubs, men only clubs, and men only gyms... which noow have been basically forced to allow female....blah blah but you are allowed your women only gyms and women only clubs still... alot of it I don't care about as I am not involved in any of them but still...

oh and don't take what I said the wrong way... though I know most probably will

The whole idea is to encourage people into riding is what I thought. Mrs Busa pete has spoken well, good on ya.

This surely is a place where everyone can organise what they want so go for it girls.

The dirt rides we've organised on here haven't attracted criticism that they are not road bike friendly and nor would I expect them to do and that's not a lot different in principle.

This forum should be free of rules in my view - if you want rules go join Ulyssess or some other bike club.
    Cheers

Girls wouldn't be happy at all if the guys of KB planned a ride that was strictly "Men only," so if the shoe's on the other foot, exactly the same should apply. If Men can't exclude Women, Women shouldn't exclude Men. I was going to vote "I don't mind either way," because I don't really, but really girls, do you mind if you have one or two nice boys attending? Are we really that bad?

The number of Men's only clubs remaining in NZ: Two, last I heard. The rest have been made to allow female members. The number of Women's only clubs in NZ: Over 2500. Makes you think, doesn't it? I mean, it's not like Men are going to get up in arms and demand to be allowed to join some Womens clubs, but hell, if you're allowed a Female only club, you should be allowed a Male only club without being accused of sexism.

I've voted yes, (although I don't mind some guys coming along - I think there were some fellows tagging along by the end of the last ride). However, to to be told that we can't do it because it's not "in the spirit of KB" is not on. I have not been riding long and it can be intimidating being in a big group. The last girlie ride was great - no pressure, ride how you like.

Yes, that's how it should be in a mixed group - but let's be honest, it's not always.

There's other groups that organise rides that I won't go on because I don't fit in the group (e.g. dirt bike, adventure ride...) but I don't get my panties in a twist about it.

I think a very big deal is being made about some chicks who like bikes trying to have a good time. How about letting us do it?

PS - deviant if the guys want to make a boys only ride, I don't have a problem with that either.

You can do anything you want, ride with who you want, where you want. KB is a forum for sharing information not a club with rules.

    The spirit of KB?
someone give me a brief description of what that actually is please.

What I see is a diverse collection of people from across NZ society with just one thing in common: motorcycles.
Apart from that we are as different as any other group; we like, love, hate, feel disgust, laugh, cry, are outraged, feel sympathy etc based completely on our own personal cultures and quite often we just don't fit in with others here.

Personally I don't much enjoy riding in large groups. I like a group of 3-6 bikers best, all of whom I've ridden with before and who I can trust not to make a sudden racing move to pass me on the roads.

I see no 'spirit' that says everyone should be invited on every ride or that everyone should be included.

If a cruiser group (Hogs etc) invited me on a ride I know I'd not fit in. I'd be bored and frustrated on the road and have little in common bike wise when we stopped. Likewise on the kind of ride I like, they might feel uncomfortable etc. There's no real difference between that and girls choosing to be more comfortable and riding with other girls. Male and female psyches are fundamentally different after all.

Hell, if the gals feel more comfortable riding with other gals then good for them. You go for it girls and ignore those who hassle you for it.

I voted, don't care either way, but I share the concerns of deviant. The greater issue I see here is that while the society today is demanding "equality and indiscrimination" from men on how they treat women in reality it demands reverence and worshiping from men and demands no such "equality and indiscrimination" from women. Of course us men have only ourselves to blame because it's always our fault but one day it's just going to get out of hand if it isn't already.

For example, the Warehouse parking in Palmy had "Mothers and children" parking out the front of the shop until a responsible member of the community complained and now it's called "parents and children" In the end, it got fixed, but the fact that it remained like that for several months is at the very least sexiest.

    Anyway, am I ranting?
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

I believe some woman only rides are good.

Alot of females don't like riding with large groups of males, due to fact when alot of males get in to groups, there iq sorta goes down to amount of males in the group.
