Wellington Wairarapa Winter Solstice Ride Photos here

No one else has, so do I have to start posting photos for you?

Thanks to BuckBuck#1 we had a really nice ride in the sun today and it really wasn't that cold, contrary to Trudi's excuse, until I headed home after sunset.

As per the plan we left Rimutex around 11am, then met Kinje at the top of the hill, went to Martinborough and onto Carterton via the backroad with the ugly mushroom factory on it to meet more of the 'rapa people and the Ashhurst riders at Wild Oats for lunch. Some e-riders were already there about to leave including a few known on here like bugsplat, but sorry guys you leave too early in the morning for me so I'll have to stick with the cruisy KBer's.

These first photos are all at Rimutex.

The next four shots are at Wild Oats Carterton. Meat pies seemed to be the favourite choice for lunch but all the food is good at that place.

Wayne you still didn't find that radiator cap on Mel's bike eh!

Then we rode on to Masterton and the next two are at Mobil on the corner of the Castlepoint Road.

Here we are still at Mobil Masterton in the first 3 photos with our runs leader giving us a briefing on the next leg of the journey.

Then we headed up the Castlepoint Road taking the turnoff to Alfredton so the next 3 photos are at Alfredton.

Well it is a sweet wee number and you weren't there to distract me (bet you wish you came with us). Besides I've been away so much it was the first time I'd seen the bike in the real world and not just online.

OK so more pics as the crew arrived at Alfredton.

After Alfredton we went to Eketahuna leaving the Ashhurst crew there and then returned South via Mauriceville and I took this one last photo on the Mauriceville Road - great ride it is down there. Then it was on to the White Swan at Greytown for afternoon tea and then on home for me riding back over the hill with BB#1 farewelling him at the Silverstream lights.

Great! Yep, that's me with the other Daytona. Mine's finally run in and I'm loving it!

Btw, if you're interested in knowing where to get an amazing tune service for Triumphs, pm either Dog's or myself, the guy is incredible!

For those into stats and after the discussion we had on the arrogant w**ckers thread I can tell you today that I hadn't ridden my VFR for well nigh two months after doing dirt bike rides and being away over the weekends, so felt a bit weird on the bike, but settled into a groove following madness to the top of the hill on his ZX11. I can tell you today my GPS track says we did the Kaitoke bridge to top of the Rimutaka hill this morning in 4 mins 38 secs for an average speed of 85 km/hr which is faster than previous recordings I talked about coz in those ones I had Mrs merv on the back and today she stayed home with daughter merv who is home from Uni. Not bad seeing we wouldn't have gone over 100km/hr anywhere coz that is against the law though we did have quite a nice clear run.
    Cheers

    Merv
