    Santoft Flu

I rode the Santoft enduro last weekend and as usual DNF'd. Hit a tree stump with my left foot and went flying over the handlebars - fortunately the ground broke my fall landing head first. My toes were numb and it was a mission getting on the bike and riding back to the pits 20km away - I was lost but my sense of direction got me back. I checked into hospital to see if I had broken anything (no just severe bruising)
Anyway the strange thing is a series of coincidences surrounding the Santoft event.
In 2003 I trailrode the event and 2 days later had a vicious tummy bug that had me off work for 2 days
In 2004 I competed and fell off in a terrain test - went to hospital to check for damage - corked thigh biggg bruise. Still finished but missed 1 section. Also my engine sucked sandy water into the crank and trashed the motor.
    In 2005 I didn't go.
In 2006 I competed and flagged it after 1 lap 4 days later I was in hospital getting checked for severe stomach pains - stuffed gall bladder.
Then 2007 - as described fell off and DNF'd then on wednesday I had the 2nd worst tummy bug attack.
I think god want's me to stop riding the Santoft Enduro. My excuse for not entering henceforth will be 'Santoft Flu'.

    He did.

Well I was keen to do the Santoft trail this weekend, was concerned as any rain makes the place a bog in some places & the deep sand is a drag on the small bikes I favour. Never had a particularly good time there but has been a while so decided to go anyway. But then the weather closed in & I'm glad I didn't go.

Sunday may have been better, what was it like anyone who did?
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

I went, was OK (went on Saturday). There was a lot of boggy / swampy areas. Was a real catch 22 situation, needed a big bike for the sand but then prayed for a smaller bike in the trees. 1 loop seemed to be neverending single track through the trees while another was mainly sandy tracks. There was a 3rd track which mixed it up a little.

There was talk of farmland but this did not eventuate ....... a few of us had paid for the 2 days up front but did not bother going back for Sunday. On the Saturday a lot of people were leaving around lunchtime.
