eek I binned my bike too

So I was going around a corner, running just a tad wide. I thought i was sweet, until I hit a patch of gravel on the side of the road (at this point I was about a foot from going off the road), and my front gave. I realised it was all going south, and just got clear of the bike. I came to rest in some bushes.

I'm glad I didn't go down onto the rocks.

    Pics:

Pondering how to get bike out

    Push it along!

Luckily some dude with a truck was handy, thank god for that.

    Damage Survey

    Broken bits:
    - Fairing
    - Brake Lever
    - Clutch cover more scratched than it was when I got it
    - Forks probably fucked due to large fall
    - Tail light smashed
    - Right side fairing REALLY badly scratched
    - Screen is GONE
    - Front Right Indicator GONE
    - Boot locking system (Pillion seat got ripped off)
    - Tank (Dented, Scratched)
    - Bracket that holds gauge cluster bent
    - Bracket that holds mirrors Snapped.
    - Right mirror is gone (couldn't even find it)

    Injuries
    - Sore joints (Right elbow, both knees)
    - Friction burn on forehead
    - Middle finger on right hand

    Thanks to:
Jeaves, Donor (the medic), Gijoe1313, Chickadee, U1AGO, McJim (for renting a trailer and driving out all the way to help me in my time of need). And a whole lot of others who's KB logins / names I don't know. Thank you all guys

Just realised if it wasn't for Glaswegians your bike would be under water what with the tide coming in and all.

A Glasgow fella pulls it back up onto the road and a Glasgow fella comes and brings it back to Auckland.

You're lucky Glasgow exports all these people to New Zealand!

Sorry to hear this dude, but in a way i've been expecting it.

Not to put you down in anyway, but considering that you're on your learners with little experience i dont think it's smart for you to be on a 400. Get yourself healed up, and get booked in on RRRS and learn what you need to know to help save this from happening. After reading your posts on the other thread you need to do a number of things... get a bike you are actually suited too, slow down, stop trying to ride fast and start riding within your limits. You'll become roadkill in no time if you dont. Also, the fact that your bike took a drop like that probably means the frame is fucked, even if you can't tell... i wouldn't be riding it again too soon unless it's been to an engineer to be checked.

    Hope your injuries heal quick.

S'funny... I sent a PM saying pretty much that...

I guess I'm not as boring and nana-ish as I thought!

We've seen too many bins, too many injuries and though I don't want to say it, too many dead riders of late.

To the general public, they're statistics, but to the biker community they're friends, mates, comrades on two wheels and damned if we want to see anyone hurt, maimed or removed from the mortal coil.

Ride slow, ride conservative, ride less CCs than seems 'cool' - let the peers mock you and pour scorn - who fucking cares? Obviously not anyone that would seek to prevent you becoming a red stain on the road.

On the positive, full marks for you being ATGATT compliant, you're a walking talking testimony that good gear WORKS!

    Beer time I think...

That's quite possibly the funniest self-contradiction I have read today...
