Aren't these some fantastic old pictures!

Spank's thread getting us to identify the Honda (all credit to Eurodave getting it right) had me finding such stuff as this http://www.pbase.com/deadelvis/mybikes now what fanatastic pictures some of those are. Look what fun Honda created for the Yanks in the 60's with all those lovely adverts- with hardly a crash helmet in sight. Ahhhh .... those were the days .... carefree and fancyfree!!

The horn one "Some tootin" would be one of my favourites - who would ride a bike with that kind of load these days and with the chick side saddle - it wasn't lady-like to throw a leg over?

Then there's "Groovy Yamahas" 1966 and "Bridgestone A Go Go" - priceless.

This wheelie shot is cool - would've been Drew if he'd been riding in the 60's.

Check out the Harley Scat - Late at night the Men From Uncle were in the BSA Design Office taking photos with a Spy Camera of their stolen DKW plans.Harley drew up the blueprints straight from the negatives hence the left side clutch and right side chain of their clone. If I remember right (my wife is in the ''Tidy Up'' mode, and books I ''don't read'' have been boxed)...there were grease nipples on the main bearings! It's damn cute though.....

That Scat has a classic looking exhaust.

Its a bit like I said on the thread about the 2008 Fireblade its amazing how in retrospect style dates so much. Back when all these bikes would have looked cool in their time.

I've always been retro - I was one of those Jap bike haters in the '70's.I still don't like modern bikes....but give me 20 years and I'll love them.

Well that DT125 would almost be the much older cousin of your DT230.

Memories of old Yamaha trail bikes reminds how they had rear shocks that felt like rubber blocks with F'all travel and you just sort of bumped along on them.

    Some more pics...

Why don't they dress up Nortons like this anymore? Sorry...

The CB750 pics are of interest because they are of pre-production bikes. The advertising came out to stir up interest in the machine. The production bike was manufactured with subtle but significant changes to what is pictured.

    The Shrew, I want one!

Norton did a whole series of ads of the various bikes featuring that girl. Rumour had it she is the young Bo Derek (before she became Mrs Derek)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Well I like that one so much I've used it in my avatar! I don't actually have a Norton but I can dream

The Norton girl in most of the ads was Vivien Neves, she also caused a stir as one of, if not the, first page 3 girl.
A bit of a sad ending though, she died of MS a couple of years back.

Not a bad aftermarket body kit on this one.
