Shove your screw driver up your A55 whoever that was!

Ok, couple of nights ago someone tried to nick my bike. The bike has evidence of big big hole in the ignition barrle.
I did not see him. It happened when I came out to go to the AWNMR.

Quite shocking really.... well thank goodness that the bike was still there (atleast!)

The damage wasn't that bad, just now I can't lock the steering.

    Lesson learnt:
    • Carport is not good for bike storage
    • Auckland central is NOT safe
    • Don't let the guard down!

Dear fellows, if you have the lock, then use it right!
There are lots of threads about safety and security in KB, but just reading doesn't help, you must DO it!

Right now the bike is tied down to a pole via the frame with a thick thick Oxford chain.

Good lesson was learnt for me. Well, for fun I stayed upto 4am looking out the window trying to see if they would come back (It was fun really)
but sadly they did not come

Overall: Don't let your guard down! If you doubt, then they will take it!

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

    Yep, security is very important.

Mine is garaged with a monitored alarm and my cellphone rings if the alarm goes. The neighbours have guns and dogs. We have very good support for each other in the rural area I live.

A good alarm system, good neighbours and dogs are great deterents - especially when used together. Ambivilent attitudes to burglar alarms and suspicious activity is often a real downfall.

Just be careful mate! Remember he is already armed with a screwdriver and may have mates so no matter how mad you are don't go after him, it's not worth getting killed for. A few months ago a guy in Rotorua(I'm pretty sure it was Rotorua anyway) chased someone who just mangled his mailbox - and was murdered for it! A bike or a mailbox aint worth it!

Hey EJ - I was sorry to hear about this last night. I know you love your bike and this was real personal for you.

BUT - Remember (as posted above by the wise man just above) - its never worth approaching guys like that - Just yell that you are calling the police - a screwdriver thru the ribs is a real bastard (I should know**)

    So keep safe out there

Saw the thread title and wondered if there was a bit of attempted updating going on....are there even any A55s left these days??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
