    Mad Max bike project #2

This was my first go at a Mad Max kinda thing, now I am doing something similar to my Kawasaki KLR250.
    Much fun!

Go this post or scroll through the thread to see the latest update...

This is how it was this morning
The KLR before I attacked it

Today I put innertube on the seat, replaced the perished fork gaiters with innertube rubber, and sprayed it matt black.
Result! Amazing what a bit of black will do. It's a bit sad to say goodbye to a perfectly good and well-looked-after 20-year-old Kawasaki paintjob and bodywork, but hell, the thing only cost $800, it's not like I'm going to lose much resale value.

Next I will try to find some big headlights to do what you can see in my signature-picture.

Looks good, nice and raw! You missed the inside of the mudguard though

However, if the original paint scheme was in good nick I can't help but feel it's a bit of a shame.

Will look awesome with big round headlights. I might even be so bold as to suggest that you get a mis-matched set with two different sizes!

Nice one man, was just checking out the latest on Ratbikezone when I had a quick look on KBer and found this, it's gonna look awsome with some big lights on it!

    Yeah! ...thats pretty cool man.

I reckon a matte olive/khaki scheme would be pretty cool too. Maybe a little too 'army' though.

To make it look like a BMW?

The luggage racks are looking good and I think some knobblier tyres would improve the mad max image.

Yes, that's the look I'd like, but I can't justify knobblies when commuting daily on the wet, slippy, slimy, shady Dunedin winter streets.

No - they are matched and of different sizes.

Even go for a square and a round one for added effect.

Did you take everything apart to paint or did you just spray away? how much paint did you use?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

No, just painted it where it was. I used one and a half Supercheap cans, a grand price of $4.50.

The selling didn't go so well, nobody wanted such a thing. But in the end I got what I paid for it. A KB'er sold it to me, it woulda been a bit cheeky to sell it for more!
Yes, it is a good starting base, now for the embellishments and semi-legal modifications and dangerous fittings.
