    Teknic leathers - any good?

    I've seen a set of Teknic 2 piece leathers ( bought 1 1/2 years ago, worn once ) $500.

Anyone have any experience with Teknic leathers? Was reading the other thread about Spool ( ? ) leathers and quite a few people said the stitching wasn't that flash and came apart when sliding down the road.

Check em out too. Have an outlet store downstairs from the main store in Ponsonby. They may have something good for that price.

I wouldn't believe the "Worn once" part, but it all looks pretty good. I personally don't think they look too hip, but hey, I would look better in those than in two KG's of skin cut from my ass to cover my elbows after coming off.

I don't have any experience with Teknic (or any) other brands to be honest, just started motorcycling. But if they fit well, and they feel sturdy then I can't see where you can go wrong. Just get a feel of them when standing up AND when sitting on the bike, because they're two completely different positions.

    If that makes any sense.

I've got a 5 year old Teknic 2 piece (dominator/violator?). It has been down the road several times, and it's now on Bucket duties. It's been sliding on the track lots and the stitching is now beginning to fail.

I replaced it with an Alpinestars 2 piece (possibly GPU), and I'm of the opinion that the A* is of lesser quality. Both suits are from the entry level end of their respective ranges.

I would buy another Tecknic suit, not so sure about A*.m (haven't tried crashing the A*)

I've an 8(?) year old Teknic Lightning jacket, it's been great. Nothing has died, not even the zips which always seem to be first to go.

I'd definitely look at Teknic again when I go to replace my current gear, although I'm not a fan of weird colours, so depends on if they still have an all black option.

8 years is a long time, whilst they're on my list of brands I like, I'd go over a new one carefully again before I spent my money. Prefer Alpinestar gloves to Teknic ones though, they last twice as long.

    re Teknic

had a 1 piece, bought second hand (a year old) when I got it, never cleaned it, never oiled it, held together for 5 years, then I sold it for what I paid for it.

had no broken zips, no real bad rips, stiching all still in good condition.olny a bit faded due to my lack of care.
