    Get forum in Kiwi Rider?

    Hello Kiwi Bikers,
Was at the offices of the esteemed KR publication today and mentioned to editor McKay that I'd subscribed to the forum.
First thing he'd like to offer you riding type keyboard tappers is the opportuninty to get the forum promoted in the magazine - via a letter or two to the editor perhaps.
Ping your thoughts on whatever motorcycle matter you like, are pissed off by etc - anything you'd like raised in the print media for that matter, to Ross McKay:
    editor@kiwirider.co.nz
and he might run it - letter of the month gets some kind of gong.
Suggest one of the moderators send him a promotional piece?
    35,000 readers is the claim.
If there are some forum rides we can probably do some sort of 'vox pop' feature too.
    thanks

Yeah sure, I was thinking 'copy and paste' it type thing. Not to detract from the forum - try and grow it.

Mr Hitcher: I think this could be a job for you and your wonderful prose????

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

But the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want.

Thats a very nice website there, Danger Dave the slide show presentation for some of the photos is very impressive. Check it out people, sure you'll recognise some of the riding areas!

Call me cynical, but what's the REAL reason KR have sudenly taken an interest in a media and communication format that the print media struggle to understand at best, and occasionally deride at worst?

Remember we have a community here, and as Fire Fight has pointed out in the past it is important that commercial organisations understand and respect the community culture of KB.

Rampant growth is not necessarily a good thing either. Consider the KB culture and ask yourself if we want or need a huge influx of Mikey's or "theknightrider". A lot of good people may give up the fight and go elsewhere if they get too annoyed with battling to keep a friendly non-confrontational community forum going. I enjoy swapping a bit of banter, but I don't want to end up in the situation of defending myself or others from comments or threads that are an in-joke.

I've participated in a couple of other forums that began the self promotion route and ended up with a very different cultural idiom, very quickly, with the consequence that the things I enjoyed about those forums disappeared almost overnight.

Yes, sold the CBR to a very nice chap.

No insurance yet, darn it. Makes it hard to maintain a pleasant outlook on life.

I'm in two minds about this - on the one hand KB has been of great benefit to me and it's great to see other people discovering and benefitting from it. Having one or two new members a day is a good number so we don't get inundated with a whole lot of new threads that are exactly the same as the week before. I worry about the commercialisation of the site. It's so relaxed and (usually) friendly, it would be a shame to lose that.

I can be a cynic too, one magazine guy says to another magazine guy "we're running out of stuff to put in there", other guy says "no sweat, I know this internet forum that writes pages and pages of bike reviews, rides, and off topic conversational pieces, it has plenty of photo's and even a dictortatorial spell check system."

    dictortatorial? WTF am i smoking?
