Due to me going to live overseas, I am selling my GB 250 Clubman.
I have had the bike for nearly 3 years, and it has always been a reliable and economical steed. It has a 30hp 250cc single cylinder RFVC twin cam 4 valve engine with twin carbs and twin exhausts, 6 speed gearbox, single front disc brake and rear drum brake, anodised alloy rims with steel spokes.
In early 2006 at 44,150km, I stripped it down to the bare frame and did the following:
- Sand blasted the frame and swing-arm and painted them in black 2 pac. I could see no evidence of damage / dents / welding on the frame or swingarm to indicate that it has every been crashed.
- Bead blasted the fork stauntions to get rid of the factory clear coat which was peeling off and had started to corrode, and had them HPC coated in the aluminium finish, then reassembled with new seals, Motul fork oil etc.
- New swing-arm bushes.
- Rebuilt the top end of the engine. Head was bead blasted and 3 angle valve re-cut, barrel honed, new rings, piston skirt was Teflon coated, new gasket everywhere.
- Top triple clamp ( aluminium ) was bead blasted and Teflon coated black, and the bottom triple clamp ( steel ) was sand blasted and painted black 2 pac.
- Single seat cowl and front mudguard were also stripped and painted in black 2 pac.
- New chain
- Everything else was cleaned and refitted.
In the whole time I have owned it, I have always got 60 - 65 miles per gallon out of it. 275 km to a tank ( 12L ). Fuel economy doesn't seem to vary whether crusing or riding "briskly".
The tank in the picture is not the original tank, because it started leaking around the bottom seam. I got a second hand tank, which is identical except that it does not have the rubber knee pads. I still have the leaky tank so you can take the pads off that if you want.
Some things which may require attention:
-The battery seems to need cahrging every couple of months. I only ride short distances to work, so with the headlight on etc maybe the alternator doesn't have enough chance to charge the battery properly. I think riding further each time would let it charge fully.
-I think the secondary carb float level needs checking ( I think it is a bit low ).
The bike comes with a photocopy of the genuine Honda workshop manual for Honda CBX250RS ( mechanically the same, just different styling and guages ), 2 new oil filters, a spare set of carbs, a few odds and ends, the old leaky tank, and whatever else I can find for it.
The bike is available to view etc immediately. My last day of work in NZ is Friday 3 October, so the bike will be available to be taken away from Saturday 4th October. I am leaving the country on Tuesday 14th October and would like to have it sold wel before then, cos I need the money and Dad doesn't want to be left with it to sell ( he doesn't ride ). I will put a new WOF and 6 months registration on for the new owner. You can get me on 021 136 3872, 576 - 7097 home or pm me. $2750 ono.
