Rear reflector and rego label options

    Hi

New forum member here and this is my first post

Anyway, I've just fitted an Evotech tail tidy to my '07 CBR1KRR and am wondering about what I can use for a reflector and where I can mount my rego label.

Does the rego label need to be mounted in certain areas and, if so, is it legal to mount the rego label to the back of the number plate?

With the reflector, is reflective tape legal or is there a standard which reflectors need to meet? I'm looking for something as small, legal and unobtrusive as possible otherwise I might as well go back to my spade

The only area I can mount things to on the back of the bike now is the number plate...the tail tidy itself (true to it's purpose I guess) doesn't provide any blank space on the back or sides.

    Any tips appreciated

    Thanks

Ah, thanks Scorry. From the pic it looks like you must have an 'L' shaped bracket and it's mounted via the rear brake line bracket?

    Cheers

I've just done the same thing. Here's the link to the doc about number plate lights and reflectors...

Haven't found the rego one yet. Mine wont pass at the moment

    From LTSA

"What to do with your licence label
When you pay the licensing fee, you get a label that shows the date your licence expires. You must display this label on the left-hand side of your motor vehicle's windscreen, or near your number plate (for trailers or motorcycles)."

I guess 'near' is up for interpretation.

I can't find anything about the WoF label that mentions bikes.

    Thanks again!

Can I ask what reflector you have bought to do the job? I'm not 100% sure from the LTSA doc if 'reflective material' is legal or not. The text just mentions 'reflector' which, according to the notes, has a slightly different definition. I've got about 2.5cm x 2cm to play with on each side of the LED licence plate lamp...so nothing I can find online is small enough to fit in that tiny space.

    I don't, that's why I said my bike won't pass a WoF check. I don't have a number plate light either

Guess what I'll be doing this weekend.

Go to super cheap or repco. anything similar to what you have is ok ! You can get them with a small bolt and nut in the middle on the back.

Have also just fitted an Evotec tail tidy to my bike. In the kit there was a little red sticker with Evotec on it, this sticker is a reflector and fitted nicely on the number plate light cover. Not sure how well it would show up at 100m. S'pose you could get the traffic inforcement person to pace out 100m behind your bike and by the time he got there you would have a 100m head start on a getaway.
Well....it seemed like a good idea at the time....

Yeah, I've got that sticker but I wasn't 100% sure if it would pass as a reflector..I guess it's better than nothing and your escape tactic would come in handy
