    D U C K!

    DAMMITALLTOHELLINAHANDBASKETANDBACKAGAIN!

I might take up duck shooting.

Binned it this arvo on a sweeper, cos of a DUCK.

OK, so what happenned is that as I was scraping the peg at about 80k on a nice right hand sweeper on the open road out towards Clevedon, a freakin' duck comes from the right and flies right into the road in front of me, with the result that my front wheel goes over him. Now hitting the equivalent of an unexpected speed bump at that particular moment was NOT good.....the front came up then bounced back down causing a big slapper and then down i went on the right hand side and slid to the outside of the corner, coming to a rest in some gravel.

    FUKKIT.

First thing to do is check that all the major structural bits are intact - arms, brakes, legs, handlebars, head, gearshift and rear brake....... actually I lie - the FIRST thing i did on instinct was look what was behind me....I really DON'T need to survive a bin just to be taken out by a following truck!

So anyway....the beast was rideable but looks shite....so tomorrow off I go to get an assesment....sigh. Anyone happen to have or know of anyone with a set of red ZZR fairings for sale......?

    Cool

Flaming hell.... are you sure that YOU are ok...?

One assumes that the said duck is now dead?

Try ringing Atomic on the North Shore.... they may have some fairings.

Yeah I'm fine (thanks!) - I'm glad I force myself to wear the gear though - on the next real hot day when I'm heading out I won't even think twice about pants, jacket, gloves and boots. Oh and my helmet has an awesome set of grind marks where i slid for a bit.....so that goes in the bin as soon as insurance has looked at it (i think it's covered under my insurance).

The duck? well i found some of him....a wing to be precise. he was a big bastard....like hitting a sack of sand!

Anyway, I'm sure it doesn't need to be said but I know people who have come off far worse and if all it costs me is (gulp) some $$$$ then i got off lightly. The only thing that makes me feel a bit better about the whole situation is that it wasn't rider stupidity that did it!

    BAD luck dude!

Sorry to hear about the bin... Have you been to the quack yet?

Since you seem to be ok, pity about the bike? Don't worry, nothing that time and money won't fix

Bugger. Shame it caused you to bin it!
I hit a pukeko once, on the road to Marakopa - it went across my headlight, bent right hand indicator back 90 degrees, hit my knee, then cartwheeled ingloriously down the tarmac before finally sitting flapping in the middle of the road. When I went back to finish it off, the bugger got up and ran off into the bushes!!
Then a mate of mine hit a turkey near Hahei... looked like the world's biggest pillow fight! Fortunately he kept it upright as well.

keep your eyes open, mate of mine sold his zzr4 for about $500 about 6 months ago, so there are cheap ones out there.
