    Arrow 250cc Northland Loop - SATURDAY - 10 JANUARY 2009

    Ride Status: ON

What: NORTHLAND LOOP (note map is just for general directions) - like coro loop but up north and more twisties and more sweepers. Basic route - auckland - wellsford - dargaville (gonna try to void the long straights by swapping for back road twisties) - waipua forest - Opononi (LUNCH PLACE) - Kaikohe - twin bridges - Wellsford - Auckland.

    When: Saturday 10th January

Where: Meet at shell westgate 8:30am for a 9am take off.

Who: Aimed at 250cc bikers but larger bikes more than wellcome to join. I'm doing it on my 250cc hornet as I like the way I can run the twisties. Ride not recommended for people with less than 6 months riding experience.

Pace: Licence keeping speeds - I'm not gonna do licence loosing speeds. Everyone else is welcome to ride as they like. This is a "ride whatever pace is comfourtable for you" ride - meaning that slow cruiser type people are more than wellcome as are MotoGP riders... If there are MotoGP riders comming, feel free to run ahead of Mr. TOTO and wait on the turn off or whatever makes you happy.

What to expect: twisties, sweepers, more twisties, more sweepers, twisties, twisties....did I mention twisties....

Stops: every 100 - 120km for fuel , and lucnh stop at Opononi

Warning: people are free to ride as they like, however, anyone who endangers me or any of our fellow riders will NOT be tolerated! You been warned!

Expected time back: late afternoon - 5-6pm...

Note: People wishing to join for just part of the ride are also more than welcome to come along.

Note 2: Ride is weather dependent. If storms or yucky weather is expected, ride will be postponed for the following saturday. Please keep an eye on the RIDE STATUS on top of this post... any changes to the ride status will be updated in thread and in this first post.

well yes, hoping so. that why its weather dependent. in saying that you can cane twisties in the wet and its sometimes more adrenalin, knowing you have the unknown Xfactor. Xfactor being - "Just how far over do my tyres let go...?" lol

827kms in 8 to 9 hours? And stay at licence safe speeds! I don't think so. To be back by 6.00pm means a 91Kph overall average.

Nice ride wish I could do it. Just plan for it to take a lot longer or ride really fast with short stops.

dont believe google maps. this is an ESTIMATE route. and google put some roads where I didnt need it. its about 500 - 600 K tops, with decent stops for relaxation.

Your poor Ho-bag is already lowered enough... Imagine how the poor girl would be if we both straddled her? (Mind you, the wife didnt seem to mind so much...)
