Hero Blobs - Good for fk all!?

    Gutted, totally gutted.

Akaroa last Sunday. I needed to break in my new rear BT020. I went a little too fast on the way there and nearly high sided after my rear lost and then found grip - scary. So I slowed down.

On the way back however I was determined to roughen it up a bit. On a sharp right hander I slammed the bike down (no mean feat in itself for a 220+ Kilo bike) and in doing so the hero blob (peg) on my right side hit the deck, I quickly tucked in my knee (no kneesliders). I didn't mean to do this as I thought I'd grown out of this kind of riding. But hey - boosted my ego a notch anyway. Stopped in Little River, check peg, sweet. Nice and scratched. Not a problem, that's what they're designed for, right? There to protect the bike, right? To protect against scraping the fairing and exhaust, right? Wrong. Fkin wrong!!

I've just cleaned the bike and noticed a nice gauge/scrape along the right hand side of the front lower fairing. On closer examination it's plain to see that the lower fairing and the peg are pretty much in line with one another.

WHATS THE FKIN POINT IN HAVING PEGS!!

I can’t take them off as this would just make matters worse for any future riding.

Honda share parts around models. Those pegs and blobs probably also have to go on CBRs.

*Blackbirds* are for boring old fat people who don't do things like lean over lots in corners.

Don't blame the design engineers. You're supposed to remember which market segment you're in.

Suck my purple warrior you bunch of inconsiderate arseholes. Don't you know when a man is hurting!?

Aaron - I honestly don't think my pegs came up high at all. But in the heat of the moment I guess you never know.

Kickaha and JR - you're both ugly bastards. I on the other hand can loose weight

THe fact that youre an inconsiderate bastard by slamming the bike on its side should tell you something, should be trying just to ease it over, as Aaron said the peg is spring loaded other wise you probably would have unloaded the rear tyre and probably crashed. DOC would have needed a team of volunteers to right the blue whale and ease it back into its rightful home.....

Jees Gav, I wish you were there to talk me through things, and I never new pegs were spring loaded.

Is this a state the obvious competition?

Slam over was a figure of speech. But thanks for the useless advice

Keep in mind suspension is set up with a 70 kg rider in mind.

With a pillion on my pillions pegs hit the deck before the riders pegs do.

Have you had your suspension set up for you? I did it made a world of difference.
