Arrow Insurance warning AMI You have been warned!

    Ok here goes.

I have noticed a few threads mentioning issues with AMI and claiming etcetc.

Well I have a good one for you. Here is my personal experience with this company I am currently invovled in, and after politely talking to an exremely condescending witch on the phone, who escallated the conversation into her fianlly saying, and I quote "listen, I don't care about your problems" (these were with the companys treatment of the case BTW) I decided I would make an official complaint about her manner, which she also thought was a good idea.......still waiting as I write for the manager to pick up......

Ok so I crash my bike, fine, i'm alive, bruised etc whatever, nothing terrible.

I call insurance company and let them know iv'e had an accident.

I take bike to shop, and let AMI know where it is. Bike turns out to be written off....AMI then let me know about my $1000 excess......
I question why it's $1000, answer was simple, they did'nt change my details after turning 25 and getting my full licence.......and gave me the same conditions as with my old policy (I had changed companies)

I go to Botany AMI as it's the ONLY branch in auckland open on the weekend, and decide i'll be clever and get a quote for the exact same bike,
    excess works out at $500.........

I ask why my excess is going to be $1000 for my claim.......told this is conditions of policy, and to see Henderson branch staff..........

Told by branch that as my policy from my old bike used for the new bike, with the same terms, that's the reason for my high excess.....

I ask as to how I could be on the same terms considering my bike is a 650cc yet the old policy had me as a restricted driver, and asked if I would have been covered.
    No real answer given.

Ok, so after some argument, I gave up on the whole thing, this is my only transport, i'm fucked, $1000 excess it is......I don't have a choice, I have to get to work.

Ask Wednesday when my bike will be assessed, was told today (friday 17th)and i'd have a valuation figure by the close of play, fine, i'm happy.

I ring just now (well 15 mins ago) and ask how the valuation went, get put onto N...A B.....T, at henderson branch.
Now I must very much stress I was very polite, and patient, but this bitch had it in for me the second she picked up her phone.

In an extremely condescending bitch face way, she talks down to me, like i'm a piece of shit, and basicaly I ask when I will have the figure, she snaps "well probably not till monday we have'nt got a fax yet"

Me: "Ok, well can you ring the guy and get the figure for me?"
Bitch: "Well it does'nt matter the cheque takes five days to clear"
Me: "yes well there's a thing called a bank where I will borrow the money the bikes valued at and use that to buy my new bike"
Bitch: "Oh, well we can't just take figures over the phone, we have to have it on paper"
Me: "yes but can you ask him to fax it straight away or before end of the day?"
Bitch: "well he's probably out of the office at the moment"
Me: "well can you be a bit more pro-active and at least try, he must have a cell phone?"
Bitch: "yes but it may not come through until later on tonight, so there's no point"
me: look lady i'm screwed here I have no vehicle until I get this figure, i've been screwed by your company enough as it is with this rediculous excess which is your comapanies fault as it is i'm fucked without my vehicle"
Bitch: "well I don't really care about your problems"
Me: "well i'm going to talk to your manager and lay a complaint against you your bloody rude"
Bitch: "good my name is N...A B.....T."

I must also stress, EVERY answer was snapped at me.

After an age of waiting on the phone for the manager to pick up, funnilly enough it was because NADIA was in there getting her word in first.......

Hey manager lady i'm ........... I am ringing to make a complaint against N...A.
Manager: funny she was just complaining to me about you swearing at her"
Me: "oh you've got to be kidding? Have you a recording of the conversation? I think you will surprised to hear your staff work ethic."
Manager: "no, there's no need to swear at the staff your problems are not her fault"
Me: "this is bullshit, i'm the customer, I paid for service, I said one swear word after she mucked me around with her condescending tone and I did'nt even swear AT her!"
Manager: "I would take the swear word personally too"
Me: "Jesus, can you just sort my claim out for me please?"
Manager: "N...a has said she would call the valuer, is there anything else I can do for you?"
Me: "No I just need the info asap!"
Manager: "well Nadia said she would do that already, I fail to see what the problem is, I will have N...a call you if I can convince her to.....please don't abuse my staff......... beep beep beep beep beep"

So after not even listening to what I had to say, said manager was very anti-me, I bet I don't get the valuation until next week.

My advice to any of you, take heed of this, there are quite a few horror stories about AMI on here, no-matter how patient you are with them, they will fuck you over, and you may get the royal treatment I just recieved.

I also have a claim in for my helmet, i'm getting market value for it, yep, that means second hand value on a 1 yr old Sumoy Vandal. Probably about $250, including the $100 excess for contents, so i'll get around $150, and that's if i'm veryvery lucky. My $600 helmet will be replaced with a piece of shit cheapy.

Worst part is my insurance turned over to Vero just a couple of days ago......who from past posts iv'e read are supposed to be pretty good.....:slap: like replace things like helmets at replacement value NOT "market value"

"If you just smiiiileee........" yeah fucken right......

BTW my mrs works at a bank, and hence I left her in charge of insurance etc, that's how this excess caught me out.....

The service come claim time is appauling, we've had all our insurance through them all this time (car/house/contents/bike/life) yet they still treated me like this, I am yet to see what the valuation comes back as. Heaven help me i'm ready to battle for it from the last post I read about an AMI claim i'm going to need to..........

Yeah true, I did read a while back of someone with vero getting a replacement helmet as it was safety equipment and not even a year old, and it was replacement value.....

Maybe i'll just go to kiwibike for my bike stuff..........

We made a claim with AMI on Monday last week after my wife had a collision with another vehicle in our Nissan Terrano. AMI approved the claim while we were still in the office. We picked up our Kia Sorento as a replacement vehicle on tuesday this week and that is with easter in between.

    Well done AMI.

Errr, my recent claim went through sweet. I negotiated a change in the repair plan too. I had to talk to friends before I contacted them just to make sure I wasn't blowing smoke up my own butt.

Always make sure that you are on an even keel when you talk to them, because any display of frustration will result in the trained response you got.

So they don't record the phone calls and the manager simply takes her word without even hearing yours. Like someone said take it up with someone higher up as they would not want AMI represented this way.

Nope, no ad. I have always found AMI to be extremely good to deal with. I guess going in personally and having all the information, along with photos, helps move things along.

Sorry to hear of the problems you encountered with AMI. It's definitely a shame when one person lets the whole team and company down.

We recently made a vehicle claim through AMI and dealt with a woman at the New Lynn Claims Branch. She was very helpful and just got on with sorting out the claim.

    No problems or complaints here!

That's the thing, I was polite/calm/rational the whole way through the process, even through the excess debarcle.... right up until about the last part of the conversation with Nadia. (honestly)

Maybe because the claim was for a car? All the problems i've heard of revolve around bikes....

Just disagreeing with them will probably get that response James, even if you prove them wrong.
