Hey all... I'm the guy in Oz manufacturing these :spudwave:. Been chatting to k14 for a while now, through the cbr250 forum. After he bought one, he has been talking to me about getting a group deal for you guys. So we've worked out how to get a group buy bargin, where I'II ship 5 units at a time to him . k14 will also organise everything and sort you out for hooking it up, and he'll have my support. So if you need any info, help with installing, or wire colours etc... let us know!

Just a note... They are easy to hook up, but if your not keen on hooking it up, you can take them to a mechanic to wire up, or... k14 knows his stuff, I reckon an offer of $20 for his time and he'd sort you out That'd also save you postage cost, and be cheaper than a mechanic!

Yeah i think the gixxer's have only one light that goes on when the revs reach a certain limit. With these ones the lights gradually light up (all adjustable of course) and then when it reaches the top they all flash.

It was actually designed as a performance based indicator. Many people have bough one just for the bling factor though

I've sold a few to track riders, using it for both track work and as a training tool... its original intent. Consider it more of a replacement for you tacho. If your doing some serious riding, you can't concentrate on reading your tacho. Some people say they don't read it anyway, but it is useful information of benefit... particularly for consistency, if you can see it.

It replaces the tacho by showing you the range of interest. It was designed with only 7 lights for a reason. Any more, and you start having trouble seeing how many are on, any less, and its not as useful. So if you set the first light to come on a 6,000rpm... anything below that and you know your off engine pace. When you've got one or two lights on, you know your at the start of you power curve... if your blipping down gears, this is where you want to be. If you blipping down too fast, your going to get too many lights reading and your not optimally changing down at the right time... your loading up the rear tyre with different engine braking loads (not consistent). If your mid to exiting a corner, you can tell what pace your doing... bit slower/faster etc.

Straight line shifting and launch control is also a primary benefit. Dragsters always have shift lights for this purpose. I get a few people that say they know when to change, but I can guarantee they aren't consistent. Ever seen a 600 or 750 take a litre bike from standing start... yet they "just got a bad takeoff"! In the heat of the moment, the adrenalin clouds your concentration... I've seen it, people over rev the engine, because they are pushing it harder - the engine does what it does, despite the emotion wanting to push it. If your been on the track, particularly trying to get past a thumping twin... I shift with the shift lights, when in the mix, I can't hear the engine like I usually do to change at the same point, and I hate losing it on the exit after going around the outside.

When on track, I set the range differently than road. I also find I might make slight adjustments to where I shift... adjust it be one or two hundred rpm, and my shift point automatically changes.

Consistency is important for track riding. There is a reason why manufacturers are including shift lights with bike... there is a reason why shift lights are available for sale. This one provides the extra info, and has a wide display with a wide viewing angle suited for motorbikes. Particularly as we aren't always directly in front of the display like a car. I don't watch the shift lights... it takes a couple of weeks of practice, but you can read it in your periperhal vision, I leave my eyes on where I'm going 8). Valentino uses a shift light... and you might notice a couple of F1 cars at the Melbourne grand prix had a very similar shift light setup sitting behind the wheel.

I didn't really want to post as a sales pitch or anything... I just want to show that there is more to the blinking lights than just bling... which most people see from face value.

No sorry, the shift-i cannot do this and sadly he doesn't have anything for sale that will.

Feel free to buy a shift-i though, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't caused more interest. Only had 1 order so far from here and we need 5 before the first shipment comes in.

He has sold over 70 of these so far and is currently in negotiation with some retailers so this price won't last for long. If you miss out now the price will atleast double, and even at that price it would still be a bargain. Many of the alternates are inferior and are alot more expensive.

Here is another pic of the straight and curved ones.

Feel free to ask any questions. Check out the documentation and vids aswell. If you want to check it out in action ZXR250 has already said he will show anyone in wellington (thanks man) and I can show anyone in chch. Also saslex will soon have one on his VFR up in auck and he can demonstrate to anyone who wants to check it out.

I would really like one but for around $200 a pop for a blue/red one incl shipping is a bit steep for me at the moment but if I had the money I would def buy one.

One of the docos (shift-i cutouts) has the exact sizing. Print that and check it against the curve of your tacho. As long as its got power going into the back of the tacho I cant see why not. Eclipze can give you a more definate answer.....
