Thumbs up The Route 72 Rally- The Day after

For those of you who complain that this rally or that rally are getting too commercial, mark the Mild Hogs Route 72 Rally on your calander for next year.

The handful of riders that braved the Nor' Wester were rewarded with an event that had everything you need and nothing you dont. Beer, bonfire, band, hot food and damn good company! Everyone who rode in earned a free beer or Woodstock while names were ticked and badges sorted out.

Putting up the tent was entertaining but the the wind had died away by tea time and tempetures by then dictated that a few layers of clothes needed to be removed. The local scouts put on a spit roast and the Fire Service tended the bar. The bonfire and band cranked up after dark, to the acompanyment of a lightening storm to the west and north.

Sometime well into the AM the rain made it to us but had done it's dash by the time most of us emerged from our tents. Bacon and toad in the hole off the BBQ for breakfast, washed down with coffee, and a pleasent sunny ride home.

The numbers were waaay lower than they should have been, A little more advertising should fix this. If you bemoan getting a wee bit of mud on your boots while you slog around looking for a latte, this is probably not the rally for you...If you like to stand between a stage and a bonfire talking shop over a few bevvies, Maybe We'll see you there next year! For all those who knew about it and decided they were not going to go anyway, you missed out on the kind of rally that many people seem to think doesnt exist any more.

    Guzza.

Yup, If we keep talking it up, there might be 12 or 15 turn up next year and we might have to get crafty about getting our mutton butties! God forbid we have to actually line up for bacon in the morning! Might have to pack some firepower for the BBQ crowd :
