    Cheers,

I've heard good things about the cbr250. Not riden one but plently of people like them. I think 250's are way overpriced, dealers bump the prices because the know unless you have a full license they are your best option. I was helping a friend look for a nice sports/touring bike and he ended up with a new rgv150 because he could sell it afterward rather than buy an overpriced 250 2nd hand. In some cases the 400cc bikes are cheaper or the same prices as the 250cc.

Is that fast in a straight line or around corners or both?
It would depend on the above, I rode a 250 and would get my ass kicked on the straights but then I would kick theirs ass in the twisties.
Anyone can ride fast in a straight line, but it takes balls to kick ass in the twisties.
    17000rpm they can be fun...........
Just think anyone up for a ride up the east coast TeKaha????

Well what are the top speeds of the 4 strokes?
Cause my 2 stroke can fuckin go man - and all 2 stroke 250s for that matter. I'd be keen to race a 4 stroke 250 in a straight line anywayz

Wouldnt be much of a race. 250 2strokes race in the same class as the 400s so there you go. My 89 ZXR250 gets up to about 185-190 on the clock, but I'm not particularly aerodynamic. 19000rpm is fun, and you s o u n d like you're going fast.

From what ive heard the cbr250rr is the quickest of the 4strokes, but it's probably more a matter of whichever bike is in the best nick or least wornout when theyre 10yrs plus.

    Fastest 250

The winner of fastest 250 would have to be the KR1, I know, its not the bike that comes to mind but out of the crate it was capable of some great speed. I heard of them being good for 210kmph but I think this is largely to do with it having higher gearing than other machines. (something about needing higher gearing to keep it below some sort of top gear ride past for a noise test)
Second place is a toss up between 2 bikes, the Suzy RGV and the Aprillia RS, both push a shade over 200kmph flat out standard (and of course share the same suzuki motor). The NSR was more restricted while still being a phenominal bike (single sided swingarm, so sexy). The TZR where also great but never pushed the top speed into the 200's.

Most of these 2 smokes were puting out about 60hp at the peak of there careers. A few mods could find 70hp but anything above that required some serious work! I think for output the RGV250SP would be on top with its dryclutch etc, the close ratio box held its top speed back, but I could be very wrong!

Don,t know about fastest but I had to deliver a CBR a couple of months back.First 250 Iv,e riden for about 15yrs,Was at first disapointed with no tourqe, gutless little thing,Then I got out on the open road, wound it up an wow, that flamin, thing could really go.I could own one of them things if they didn,t cost so much.
As Matt, says the dealers take advantage of the situation.
Still neat bike but, must be hot in the twistys.

Yeah, the CBR250RR and ZXR250 are both pretty much the same as far as 4 stroke 250's go. Im getting a CBR250RR in (goes checks calender) 17 sleeps and can't wait. Have been told it is the fastest 250 4 stroke out.

But comparing 4 strokes to 2 strokes is not even a comparison. 2 strokes are made for the track and not that nice for riding round town etc, but 4 strokes have a much nicer power delivery etc.

As for the FXR250, i have heard bad things about them. They might have a bit of poke, but mechanically they arent supposed to be too reliable.

    THANK YOU!! thank you!!
    Thank you very much!
In accepting this honner, I'ld like to thank my sponsors,,

    O wait! I don't have any sponsors!

I guess it would help if the rider was capable of going that fast as well!

    Thanks Timber.
Where do I send the cheque?

Well the zxr 250 is great and so is the cbr250rr or so i've heard. Handeling is pretty good but if you are looking for flat out speed, (And this goes against everything i believe in) but i say that 2-smokes are quicker due to the increased acceleation, but i am not so sure about top speed. Maybe we should have a little "comparrison test" one day

I can vouch for the ZXR250 being reasonably quick for what it is. I test-rode one a couple months back, took it down the motorway, found a WRX to race (he was slow on the uptake but enough emphatic 'wind it on' hand gestures from the adjacent lane and he finally got the idea) and kept up quite well for a while until we ran into traffic and had to slow down. No trouble getting to 190 on the clock. It was quite happy to wheelie in 1st away from the lights given a bit of bounce and clutch-flick, too.

A mate of mine used to own one with a straight-through end can, he reckoned you could hear it from one end of Queen St to the other when he rode down there at night.

I'll have to talk one of the poor unsuspecting local dealers into letting me abuse a CBR250RR now

the rs250 is a fairly quick bike & it handles awesome too. my mates 95 was excellent on the back roads & left my old gsxr750 behind.

Yep my vote goes to the Aprilia RS250 - some serious kick ass bike there.

I've heard pretty good things about the aprilia rs250's too.

I'd like to say my tzr is up there too, but i've never ridden any other 2 strokes to compare.

It's definately a fair bit quicker than the fzr/cbr-rr/zxr's that I rode before I got it though.
